I walked past saw a nice blouse in the window. It's silk, ok, but 99 quid?

I'd have paid 50 tops

yes it is. My ex was a manager there and i dressed entirely in it for most of the 80s! Like the blouse but agree too £££. Am likingthis one

noddyholder · 08/09/2012 17:07

this too

BombusBombus · 08/09/2012 17:44

A lot of it is drab as Fuck shocking quality too.

MrsDonaldDraper · 08/09/2012 17:47

Drab McDrab stuff. Kind of place i would wander round thinking there must be SOMETHING in here i like. Having said that, I bought a couple of work suits there. I only wear the jacket now though

noddyholder · 08/09/2012 17:49

It used to be great quality. Is hit and miss now.

MrsCampbellBlack · 08/09/2012 18:07

There's an awful lot of viscose in there at the moment and the staff seem to have been on a super-pushy sales training scheme.

Squeegle · 08/09/2012 18:09

Where is the place to go for quality- hopefully with a little bit of style thrown in? I really struggle these days. Jigsaw was always expensive, but it did used to be reliably top knotch quality.

BombusBombus · 08/09/2012 18:16

Even hobbs has a shit load of polyester.

BonnyDay · 08/09/2012 18:51

I still have some stuff from years ago that I can still fit into from Jigsaw - lovely fabric skirt, work suits, shirts worth the extra etc.

Recently, had an argument with a manager to get a refund on a pair of trousers that were not up to scratch and not worth the £££. Changed shape and colour after washing and two buttons fell off.

I got my money back luckily but gave the credit voucher to my SIL as I have vowed never to buy from there again after this.

I'm NOT clicking your link. I have promised myself. I really want to see though.

Schlock · 08/09/2012 18:58

Target market is under 25s funded by university loans or trust funds, I believe. No wonder it's crap, they know that out of that crowd most of them are clueless about quality or the value of money.

noddyholder · 08/09/2012 19:19

Yes I have a few things still and they seem to last forever but new stuff is flimsier, not all of it though.I bought a pair of cords a few years ago and still look good

trixymalixy · 08/09/2012 19:30

Boden have a similar blouse to that, don't think it's silk though.

Lolwhut · 08/09/2012 19:32

Nice shirt, but one to buy in the sales

PuppyMonkey · 08/09/2012 19:33

Our Jigsaw closed down and is now Cath Kidston.

MrsCampbellBlack · 08/09/2012 19:34

Schlock - their target market is much older I think.

I tried that peter pan shirt on - its pretty but a bit too boxy in shape and the silk is very very think - very similar to the quality of the silk in zara.

QuickLookUsainBolt · 08/09/2012 19:39

I agree they are expensive so I usually buy in their sales. Have quite a few lovely dresses which I wear year after year.

novelsituation · 08/09/2012 21:18

Some of their stock is hideously frumpy, but I've found some great bits which last and last. I think the quality is generally very good.

The shops themselves are beautiful, both in terms of the shopfitting, and often the buildings themselves. I particularly love the Glasgow one - a grand old bank.

I was in the Glasgow store today and was loving the plum fine wool suiting and skinny cords.

thisoldgirl · 08/09/2012 21:22

Shocking quality. Everything I have bought from there in the past couple of years has fallen apart. Literally falling apart - sleeves coming away from cardigan, seams coming apart on a top.

Caerlaverock · 08/09/2012 21:23

Agree, I too have some very old jigsaw stuff which still gets wheeled out now and again. Last time I was in it was like bastard child of Hobbs and per una

doublenougat · 08/09/2012 22:48

Very interested to read this thread. have being buying stuff in jigsaw since mid 90s. Always loved the quality of the tailoring, attention to detail etc. however, over the past few years have generally seen fewer and fewer pieces that grab me. I don't mind paying for well- made clothes that will last, but the quality of their tops and knitwear (always dodgy, imo) seems to have deteriorated and the prices are often cheekily exorbitant. Am I alone in thinking that their stuff is more frumpy than it was 10 years ago? has their target consumer changed?

BonnyDay · 08/09/2012 22:56

I couldn't afford to buy anything in the 90d. Was broke teacher. Liked kew years ago but that went frumpy then folded. Won't defect to jigsaw of I could go to Zara.

I was a student..but did enjoy wasting chunks of my student loan in jigsaw. needless to say that by the time I had paid it all back, most of my purchases had bitten the dust....
