Just had my hair dyed...

But it's really erm...heavy? At the roots and looks silly. How can I make it look more natural? Would fairy liquid work?

What do you mean by heavy?

CanIOfferYouAPombear · 07/09/2012 14:16

Like heavy with colour if that makes sense

so is the colour you have gone for too dark? Were they trying to cover lots of grey stress highlights?

Head and Shoulders - or Tesco equivalent. Wash and rinse three times daily until you reach the shade you desire. Then condition like mad because it will leave your hair really dry.

CanIOfferYouAPombear · 07/09/2012 14:21

Yeah it is a bit dark and you can't see any of my scalp so it just looks really un natural at the mo.
Sigh, this is why I hate getting my hair done!

I reckon your colourist is using the wrong shade for you. Why dont you wash it using head and shoulders as suggested to tone it down, but really you should go back to the hairdressers and tell them.

This often happens when I have my hair dyed - my grey is so stubborn it takes alot to cover it then there seems to be too much colour for the rest of my hair... if that makes sense. It's a bit dark and flat. It normally looks fine after a few washes, so maybe wash a couple of times tonight or tomorrow.
I think this is preferable to paying to have your roots done and then roots coming through almost immediately.

vodkaanddietirnbru · 07/09/2012 14:25

why cant you see your scalp? has the dye stained it? I dont get that problem even with home hair dye (except with the Live Colour XXL stuff). Wash it through properly with shampoo and condition it. Rub the shampoo into your scalp and along the hairline to get rid of excess dye

I suppose you are right cromwell, I'd be very annoyed if there was barely any coverage!

I normally dye it myself but DP booked me in somewhere for a treat. We spoke about how I wanted it multi tonal as it was already feeling a bit "blocky" in colour, but now it's even blockier!

Am off to get some head and shoulders and do a touch of fake tan, my paleness makes it looks 10X worse!
