I'm a size 14/16 but have always liked Gilets, am I just setting myself up to look enormous?

What do you think of these ones?

I saw this one in ff the other day, it's last years stock but in the sale so quite a bargain and I think nicer than the new ones with the fur on. Website only has an 18 in blue but there were more sizes and colours when I was in, an olive one and, I think a pinky one

The other problem with teens they are such a trend amongst teens especially Jack Wills, Holister and Superdry. You run the risk of try to be down with the kids and getting it wrong to boot.

Walks only I say.

Argh I-pad!

That was suppose dot say - the other problem with gilets is .....

CointreauVersial · 06/09/2012 22:52

Good for walks....or football touchlines.

I spend far too much time freezing my backside off watching DS kick a ball about. A cosy gilet would definitely make it more bearable.

Boodles - that New Look one is great. I like the matt microfibre; nicer than the shiny "sleeveless anorak" look.

Bad. Bad. Bad.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/09/2012 23:49

I used to have a couple (with zipped pockets) for when I used to go horse-riding. Pockets for keys, phone, change.

So, like so many things that don't translate from sport to High Street...
it's a no from me Grin

My 10yo DD has a cream one, a navy one and an M&S fleece blue with white spots one.

But she's a kid , therefore 'down with the kids' Wink

I don't understand them 'cos if I'm cold then my whole body is cold (including my extremities)

I don't like them.

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 09/09/2012 22:03

They're just nice for when the weather's a bit parky but you don't want a coat on. I love mine for walking the dog. I would say I wear it autumn and spring and on a nice winters day, so it lasts all year round really. But then I quite often stride into town still wearing my wellies. I don't do high street

StuckInTheFensAwayFromHome · 10/09/2012 13:40

I am a fan, and wear mine lots. I prefer one thats very lightweight, but has lots of warmth (northface) rather than the thicker fat face type of ones.
I tend to wear them over hooded tops or wear hat and scarf, so prefer them without a hood.
I think you need to try the different versions on in store, to get the right length/thickness combination that doesn't make you look too big. (I'm 12/14 and some I tried on definitely made me look too round)
