WTF can I wear to an Indian Summer party this Friday??

OK, the theme isn't Indian Sumer Hmm but it's forecast to be warm this week. Still, when the party starts it will be 8pm and getting dark... and no doubt a bit chilly... what shall I wear? I imagine that by then autumnal clothes will be more fitting, but might just look a bit dour at the end of a lovely sunny day... was planning on tight black skinnies, knitted poncho for after dark, a black All Saints top... jewellery... would it look too miserable?

Any outfit suggestions welcome! Also, should I wear heeled shoes or boots?

Am cycling but intend to change into heels when I get there, but will need to be reasonably comfy. I don't massively like dresses and want to be warm after dark.

Are you sure it will be that cold - where are you in the uk ? The black outfit you describe doesnt sound summery at all !

South Cazza. Like I said the theme isn't Indian Summer per se, just that it will probably be a summery day, but a cold evening, so not sure what to wear that is warm yet quite summery!

Blue skinnies are more summery, rolledup to just above ankle with pretty wedge sandals and linen flowy tops or tunic layered with pretty vests in lightish sludgy colours, (browny pinks with mulberry; dusky blues or turquoises with creams; silvery greys). Accessorise with pearly shell jewellery, which is summery, always looks classic and has a shade to suit every skin tone, esp if you use a light shimmery bronzer on collarbones etc. I have loads of random shelly bits from deconstructed sale costume jewellery which I can string onto chains, leather thongs and earring hooks.
I like ballerina style or drapey waterfall cashmere, alpaca or merino cardis for warmth. And maybe a pashmina for extra layer. If you cycle home you can add an extra fleecy jacket as no-one will see !
Am wearing my trusty grey cashmere wrap cardi as we speak.
Hth!

Thank you FreshLettuce! Your style is definitely more romantic and summery than mine, but I will take some of your points and make them 'mine'. V helpful, thanks again.
