Are you an hourglass shape? Come tell me what suits my shape, I'm clueless

I have a newly discovered waistline and an hourglass shape. A friend has said I have a great waistline and should dress to show off my shape but I don't really know how to. My basic look is skinny jeans with a top, typically layering a vest with a zara linen tshirt during the summer. Moving into winter I was going to keep the skinnies, add brown heeled chelsea ankle boots and switch tshirts for some knits but she said I'm just covering my hourglass shape with the sort of flowing, baggy tops that seem to go with skinny jeans. So how to I dress to show off my shape? Don't want to lose my skinny jeans.

Issy - I find the Gap Real Straight jeans (for me in size 32/32) fit well over the thighs & bottom & the legs are quite narrow (def not skinny though). They're a good everyday jean. I do have to take them in at the waist - I sew a couple of darts into the back waistband. Tricky if you don't have a sewing machine however (which I do).

Issy - have you tried MN-favourites Levi Curve jeans? I have the 'gaping waist' problem also, with my hourglass tendencies, and these are the first jeans I've found for years that are actually comfortable, don't fall down, etc. They're normally about £80, but I got mine in TK Maxx for £25.

As for the rest, fitted t-shirts with long cardigan, A-line skirts with fitted top of some sort, dresses over leggings, etc. I too am cursed in the leg department and can't wear anything over the knee without leggings or inch-thick tights, which limits options.

Beware of buying jeans just because they fit: I tried on one of those expensive brands - Made in Heaven or Not Your Daughter's or something. They fitted like a glove, waist right height & no gaping, and oh, they were SO comfortable! I was overjoyed. Then I looked in the mirror: I looked like a denim sofa - bloody hideous. Sad

This is a good point. I thought I looked rather swish in my Levis, but photographic evidence points to the contrary. You can even see my c-section overhang.
