how do I rid myself of open pores and blackheads?

Can anyone recommend any tips, should I be squeezing my blackheads to get rid of them? My skin is slightly oily. I hate my open pores on my nose, am I destined to have them for life or will they go with a bit of work?

Ive just started using the simple range and the moisturiser is amazing! I have very dry skin on my forehead and end of my nose but my chin and the rest of my nose is oily and this seems too be the best one I can find.

Philosophy's Miracle Worker. Once a week. Pricey £60 plus but absolutely works. And cheaper than a monthly facial. Contains that acid shizzle.

Does it matter what oil you use for the OCM? Surely one is as good as another?

UnrequitedSkink · 07/09/2012 23:51

Not that I'm planning to use sunflower oil or anything...

SunWukong · 08/09/2012 09:44

Yeah cos everyones different, olive and sunflower are the base ones and people tend to mix it with other things if they get spotty, tho i don't i find I'm fine but with olive stuff from superdrugs, i mean you washing it off after, but then i cleanse with rose water and put a mix of coconut and almond oil on and coconut along with castor are antibacterial

SavoyCabbage · 08/09/2012 09:50

I am using walnut oil and castor oil and then rosehip oil as a moisturizer.

SunWukong · 08/09/2012 09:50

If you want my opinion, just go to a chemist and get a bottle of olive oil from there, then get some rose water firm the supermarket and coconut oil both should be in the ethnic food section. Whole lot should cost no more then six quid.

Do ocm, if you get spotty try cleansing after with the rose water, and using the coconut oil, if you skin gets dry mix the coconut with the olive, if you are still spotty do ocm once a week or so and just wipe with a wet sponge and cleanse onwards.

Its all trial and error to see what's best for you, at the end of the day if you don't like it you can use the olive on the dry skin on your feet and the other two in cooking.

I've been doing salicylic acid peels for the past month, and my skin has never been clearer or smoother. I beg you to try it, you won't look back.

I get the 20 per cent stuff from Bravura. I do leave it on for a lot longer than recommended tho.
