Am off to Palma in 4 weeks time for a girly wkd of lazing by the pool (hopefully!) and chilling out without the kids - ahh bliss - as a treat for my 40th. We will only be taking hand luggage and so i've got a question about what kind of jacket to wear.
1- will it be warm in Palma in end of September?
2- Should I just wear my comfy navy hoodie as my 'jacket' and hope it will be warm enough to keep me cosy on the flight and the 'getting to gatwick at 6.30am and getting back home at 3.30pm) I could throw on an oversize scarf too?
3- Will my hoodie be ok to have as my only jacket in Palma for three days?
4- Should I go and try and find a decent fairisle cardi type thing as my jacket?
5- SHould I actually take a proper jacket? I could prob just about squeeze in a kagoul type thing in my luggage?
Argh the perils of only having hand luggage!
Any advice would be most gratefully received!

Wouldn't wear a hoodie abroad......

Holymoly321 · 02/09/2012 16:25

Hi ever, we were planning on going out clubbing one eve and I'd planned on taking a little 3/4 sequin jacket for that - which could also go with the jeans that I'll wear on the plane. Not very 'warm', but hey, that's what booze is for no? Grin

Depends what you are planning to do on nights out.

A very big oversized scarf that you can wear as a scarf on the plane (so no need to pack it) and then a shawl for evenings would be my plan (and your comfort hoody too).

Holymoly321 · 02/09/2012 16:25

why not amother?

amothersplaceisinthewrong maybe no a hoody in this stylee.

Holymoly321 · 02/09/2012 16:32

Holymoly321 · 02/09/2012 16:33

thanks evers - I mean, hopefully, it'll be so lovely and warm the whole 'jacket' issue will be a moot point!

We got back from Alcudia last Fri (north end of the island) and on the last day it was windy and alot colder than it had been in the week.

We could sit outside (temperature was okay ) but it was so flipping windy it wasn't pleasant.

(And some of them should have worn hoodies. Still wiping my bleeding eyes....)

Holymoly321 · 02/09/2012 18:48

tee hee Gobblers! Def not a good look!
70isa, fingers crossed the weather hots up again late september. This was the first year in five years that we didn't go abroad as a family for our summer hol (stuck with having to go in school hols now and is SO bloody expensive!),so we went to Cornwall instead. And it rained every bloody day. So I NEED some sun!

Get a decent lightweight piece of hand luggage and you will be amazed how much you can take if you pack well. There's a link on the packing advice bit of MN.

theoriginalandbestrookie · 02/09/2012 18:55

It might be nippy in the evening, I'd definitely pack a pashmina/shawl/jacket

lilolilmanchester · 02/09/2012 19:05

you can take hoody, and jacket, and cardi and whatever else - just "wear" them getting on the plane, rather than packing. So, when you check your luggage in, have said outerwear in a carrier bag, then layer them on before you get on the plane and you can take the lot with you.

A "hoody type thing" would be useful just for keeping warm whilst travelling/in your room... but would also take something smarter like a casual blazer for evenings and a cardigan to cover all other eventualities. It should be warm end September, but who knows. Check the weather forecast just before you go to see if you need brolly/cag

bounty007 · 03/09/2012 20:39

Take something warm! We were there first week in June last year.. It rained every day ALL day and was bloody freezing..taking the piss out of DH for packing his ski jacket left me looking really stupid when none of the 5 bikinis I packed saw the light of day....

Holymoly321 · 04/09/2012 17:42

ooh - unlucky bounty! What a nightmare! Will def take something warm!
