Help me spend £500 on some lovely, classic clothes

After my second pregnancy a year ago, I went from a size 10 to a size 12. I have also changed shape, with a wobbly mummy tummy and quite a bit more bottom! My size 10 wardrobe has lots of lovely, classic pre-baby pieces, mostly from Joseph, LK Bennett, Hobbs, Boden, Nicole Farhi and lots of cashmere. I can still get the clothes on, but they don't look good so I have put some money aside to buy some more classic clothes that will last for years and make me feel great.

I have plenty of cheapish, casual clothes for being at home with the children and so really want some smart casual pieces for work and going out to lunch, dinner, the theatre etc.

I am size 12 and 5 foot 3, with good legs, but wobbly everywhere else! I have blue eyes, light brown hair and quite olive skin. The sorts of clothes I like (although don't know if this suits me any more) are shortish dresses with nice tights and boots, pencil style dresses and skirts, lovely knitwear, cigarette trousers and I also love comfortable heels, but don't wear them very often. I tend to wear grey, cream, navy, cerise, red, emerald green and purple. I'm not really into loud colours or patterns but love interesting fabrics and details like tweed or lacework.

I have put £500 aside to spend and am really hoping for 5-10 lovely, classic pieces that will make me feel great (and thin, and maybe 27 again!).

Any ideas welcome. Thanks :)

A really good coat.

Envy £500!

I think spending more £££ on less items is a good idea, go for quality over quantity.

How about a personal shopper at John Lewis or House of Fraser?

I did think about a personal shopper, but was worried that it might limit my options in terms of brands available. Perhaps the big John Lewis on Oxford Street might be a good option (and a lovely treat for a day out!)?

I bought a coat in the sales last winter- it's the only posh thing I have that fits me!

More ££££ on less clothes is certainly a good idea. I have tended not to do that lately as I've been short of everything and needed to stock up a little.

ooo lucky girl. Look at Isabella Oliver 365 collection, there are some lovely classic dresses on there that are flattering and good quality.

Thanks topsi, will do!
