MrsRogerSterling which scarves did you get? The one I got was a wool/silk mix

OP posts:
MrsRogerSterling · 30/08/2012 21:05

Itsgottabebags yes they are wool/silk, both dark grey (but not exactly the same colour) one with zebras on and the other has a sort of abstract pattern all over which they also did in a cotton mix for £12.99, my friend bought that one!

Itsgottabebags · 30/08/2012 21:11

Mine is a lilacey grey colour with Bows on and its so so long. Have you been on their website?

I imagine the RRP of mine is the same as yours given we have paid the same price.

I paid near 50 quid around 3 years ago from Whistles so its high up there value for money wise!

Diesel cape for £39.99 from £219.00
Very happy

Meglet · 30/08/2012 21:17

There's a Calvin Klein jacket (suit jacket, ok with jeans) in mine. £30. I put it back though, will be kicking myself in a fortnight.

onyx72 · 30/08/2012 21:18

A set of three Essie nail varnishes in shades that Iike for 9.99; they usually cost 9.99 each.

Corygal · 30/08/2012 21:23

As it happens, some of my best TK barginns are homeware. By which I mean Frette duvet covers (nifty fity) & Frette pillowcases (three quid) and a small country-sized pure goose down Fogarty duvet (all-seasons) at under a one-er.

That lot wil keep us, specifically myself and the cat, in bed heaven for about 20 years. They are timeless too, which really does mean you save money. There is nothing nicer than a nice bed feeling either, if you ask me or Sir Pumpkin.

Corygal · 30/08/2012 21:32

Have you ever taken a flier on an unknown brand in there just because you loved the thang? I am a rank coward about this, but I suspect I am also an idiot, because one does see the odd anonymous or unknown label on some beautifully made stuff.

Itsgottabebags · 30/08/2012 21:45

Yes. The scarves and some clothing ages ago! I did get some shoes by a well known brand and was glad I had paid very little for them as they were rubbish.

Itsgottabebags thats the one I got, mine is charcoal with black pattern.

Itsgottabebags · 30/08/2012 21:57

Mrs maybe we have the same scarf including colour. Both bought today as well. Both Mumsnetters! Ha ha! I am looking at some sites that sell them. I think the scarf is the 'Nova' style as its extra long.

OP posts:
MrsRogerSterling · 30/08/2012 22:03

this is the other one I got but mine has a grey background.

Itsgottabebags · 30/08/2012 22:11

Mrs that's gorgeous! Even more so when you see the full RRP and you know you saved a packet!

Was considering getting some really nice brown leather boots but they didn't fit right :(

I love TK Maxx! :)

WeightyKaty · 31/08/2012 14:12

I bought lots of Le Creuset things for a tenner each and going back tomorrow for some Kirstie bedding which is surprisingly nice - my big burly fiance spotted it rather than me! wandsworth one is lovely and not very jumble-saley at all. Much better than Clapham Junction.

iWILLdothis · 31/08/2012 16:22

Ordered a pair of navy velvet jack purcell converse today, hoping they fit & are comfy. Looking forward to getting back into last winter's purchase, my warm coat Smile I'm a recent tkmaxx convert. Still hate the look of the shop & jumbliness & smell though. Staff not always pleasant either. Can put up with all that for a good bargain though.

ruby22 · 31/08/2012 21:01

oh what a fab thread for a friday night for someone on a spending ban!
trying not to spend any money on clothes for at least a month but managed this week to sneak in a lovely clements Ribeiro scarf 50%wool/50 silk for £20 instead of £80. Was also VERY tempted by the geometric print Missoni scarf which was £40 instead of 200, the colours were perfect in the grey, the orange one was vile. But remembered my no spending rule and could only justify the one scarf.

ruby22 · 31/08/2012 21:02

It was a missoni silk scarf I should have said, I could really justify it. I may dig around the wardrobe to see what I could ebay to be cost-neutral, or whatever the tecnical term is!

Corygal · 31/08/2012 21:14

They have to do the jumble sale thing because a lot of the brands they sell don't want it to be known they're lurking in there rather than the swanko shop up the road.

When the buyers were visiting the Clappers one, they explained that this and finished smugly 'But people do so love a rummage'. I gave them the hooded look 'up to a point.'

Then I urged the buyers to buy in some decent black trousers. They said 'actually, we hardly ever can - these are the one thing that's hard to find in overstock.' Ie if trousers are any good, they won't be in the discount rail. But, and this is a big butt (geddit), when they buy in the velvet fuschia loons, they insist on getting some of the slim black pants as part of the batch. So you can find them, if only rarely.

But it's open season on everything else, which is good news. I won't buy 7FAM or Paige anywhere else.

I'm not a shop's easiest customer, me. I loathe the dark art known as merchandising - I don't like things being bigged up and lit exquisitely in the shop only to get home and hit the inevitable downer that it only looked ok with professional styling. So TK, where if it looks good in strip neon, you can guarantee it looks better in the real world, suits me fine.

You may correctly surmise that I have been around a lot of stylists and snappers in my time.
