L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil...will it save my hair?

So my hair isn't looking too great at the moment. Well the mid length & ends that is. Dispite having a couple of painful trims (painful as I am trying to grow my hair) & using intensive conditioners & laying off the straighteners, my hair still looks like *James Mays on a bad hair day, a dry frizzy mess. I've tried a few serums, all of which have failed to make any noticeable difference.

I came across the Loreal extraordinary oil on the Boots website, has fab reviews. Can any MN's confirm this? I dont want to give into that nagging voice in my head that's telling me to go to the hairdressers yet again for another trim....

*sorry if you are James May (you never know?!!!) reading this or a close friend / relative.

I like It.
I've got v long thick hair., but it's not in bad condition. I put it on my hair after washing and it does make my hair silky after blow drying.

Secret7 · 30/08/2012 09:39

L'Oreal Mythic Oil - available from salons is fab. They've also brought out Mythic Oil shampoo and conditioner - expensive but fantastic.

plentyofsoap · 30/08/2012 09:56

Hi, I purchased it last week. I love it! My hair is mid length and fine and can be prone to frizz. I put some on after washing and then blow dry and I can see a real difference.

FoxPass · 30/08/2012 10:45

I got it last week and it's lovely - weightless and doesn't make my hair greasy. Makes my hair lovely and silky and shiny.

bunionscomingsoon · 30/08/2012 11:08

I bought some too after a post on MN - I have fine limp hair and can def see a difference when I use it - -Smile

WillSingForCake · 31/08/2012 07:42

Another vote from me - I've been using it on my heat-damaged hair and it makes it really shiny & smooth.

buttercrumble · 31/08/2012 07:48

I love this, not at all greasy and makes my hair look really smooth and feel soft. I also bought a more expensive hair oil which i was really disapointed with, so its L'Oreal all the way for me. It also smells beautiful, and the bottle has lasted ages.........

TellMeLater · 31/08/2012 08:14

Interested in anything that defrizzes my hair, but I wonder if it contains silicone to achieve such great results - does anyone know?

coffeeinbed · 31/08/2012 08:20

Of course it has silicones.
I used it, and it worked brilliantly.
It was murder to wash it off my hands though.
Which is something I can put up with.

TheCraicDealer · 31/08/2012 09:01

So does it give your hair bounce-ability or does it just make it smoothy-smooth after blow drying?

I've got very fine, highlighted hair and started using this shampoo and the conditioner from their new range. It's fab, my hair hasn't been in such good condition since I started torturing colouring it.

MissBetseyTrotwood · 31/08/2012 09:07

I use plain Argan Oil, recommended by my hairdresser. It's worked a treat. Just sort of seals the ends.

AgathaFusty · 31/08/2012 09:26

I tried it and didn't like it. It didn't seem to make any difference to my hair (fine, very wavy but straightened daily).

janmoomoo · 31/08/2012 10:10

I love it. I am a fellow James Mayes lookalike and tried loads of products but this really seems to work. Just be careful about using too much.

sillyily · 31/08/2012 10:25

I love it, but it says after blow drying use 2 squirts to run through your hair. I wouldn't use any more than one or your hair will look greasy. But it's great for fly away hairs after straightening Smile

FoxPass · 31/08/2012 11:34

It has a type of silicone in it but it's not the main ingredient and much less than is usually in serums and leave-ins, which are rammed with dimethicone. And the argan oil is good for your hair.

LulaTheOneAndOnlyMrsPistorius · 31/08/2012 15:29

Is it better than Moroccan Oil? I freakin' love Moroccan Oil but it doesn't love my bank balance.

Whizkidwithacrazystreak · 05/09/2012 23:41

Is it similar to the Keratase Serum, which smells delicous

LulaPalooza · 18/09/2012 18:08

I got a full size bottle of L'Oreal Mythic Oil with this month's Glossybox. Am looking forward to comparing it to Moroccan Oil

MrsMeow · 18/09/2012 20:18

I also got the mythic oil, used it tonight after my shower and my hair looks and feels AMAZING. Seriously, it's so so shiny & swishy! I only used a tiny bit though, I think that's the key.

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/09/2012 20:22

I have thick curly hair, that has a tendency to look like Bruno's (from Fame). I use this on the dry ends and it is great - non greasy and makes it look like hair, not frayed rope.

ILoveApples · 18/09/2012 22:42

I tried it and it was good for my fine hair BUT it gave me itchy spots down the sides of my face so I now use just a drop of Jojoba oil (which I also use on my face) and am quite happy with that. Much cheaper too!

LulaPalooza · 20/09/2012 12:53

MrsMeow I agree! It's fab stuff and half the price of Moroccan Oil. Very, very pleased with Mythic Oil. It does seem a bit "siliconey" though so I wonder if I'll get major build up?

Meggles76 · 20/09/2012 13:22

Another fan here. I have fine hair but lots of it. The texture can also be quite coarse and it has a natural wave to it. I have a graduated bob style and usually use straightened after washing. This product is so good I can just blow dry and go. My hair is soft bouncy shiny and the waves defined.

BeauNeidel · 20/09/2012 17:17

I like it, but it's not the best thing ever.

This is wholly down to my hair though as it is very dry and very porous, so even oils sink straight in and I have to use loads.
