WHITE STUFF- just who are their demographic?

Yes I know there is a curent WS thread, but my brochure arrived today Confused

Why would I want to buy from a company who have a woman in a knitted hen tea cosy/ hat on the front cover? FGS!

FGS I want to look chic, stylish, sexy- not like some dimwit who wears dodgy headwear.

By the look of the new catalogue it's rabbits or someone else who eats their carrots - the pictures are so bloody dark it's impossible to see what the clothes are like and how dire the patterns are.

Last year's catalogue cover with the horrible dog licking a plate of trifle or whatever it was made me feel sick. Their sort of 'quirky' humour makes me want to specifically not buy from them which is a shame because I like some of their plainer less frumpy stuff.

I normally like some of their stuff Blush but having just flicked through the brochure today even I won't be buying anything. It's just all so samey.

MissBoPeep · 28/08/2012 13:52

and expensive.
and the jumpers etc are not even wool.

I only ever bought one cardigan in there when I was pregnant and yes, it was expensive and became hideously bobbled. I just tend to buy the blouse/shirts as they wash well and cover my jelly belly!

women who hate their bodies

Blimey! I've just discovered the white stuff and really like it! Admittedly overpriced and only went in there as I was given a voucher but I could've bought lots of things in there. I'm 28, mum of 2, size 12 and poor, so there's your demographic, although the poor part means I won't be rushing back unfortunately. I got this;

And it's gorgeous IRL :)

I think its for ladies with immaculate houses, ocd tendencies, no small children to make a mess. The type who has little table hoovers to pick up crumbs after breakfast and always use tablecloths...ladies like my aunt who is the only person I know who shops there. She does buy my dcs some gorgeous presents from there.

AuntAda · 28/08/2012 15:14

It's really overpriced, and the t-shirts and knitwear are poor quality. Some of the skirts are good though. They have ridiculous vanity sizing.

They come up on ebay quite a lot, but the prices tend to be high even there.

Which means if you find WS clothes in charity shops you can sell them for a healthy profit on ebay. Just saying.

The menswear is nice, esp their jumpers and shirts. Womenswear is awful. Though I was i the York branch the other day and they have a cute mini cinema showing cartoons so they are clearly aiming to lure in mums!

QueenCadbury · 28/08/2012 15:56

I don't hate my body and I certainly don't have an immaculate house and I do have small children!

The blouses are fab, the patterns mix well with weetabix/chocolate/tomato ketchup and wash well. As I said though they're all starting to seem a bit samey but I think that happens whenever you've shopped somewhere for a few seasons.

BombusBombus · 28/08/2012 16:13

It used to be surfy/ yachty aimed at late 20s -30s but seems to have switched to baby boomers as they are the only ones with any disposable income. Has gone all greige and shapeless. It got crossed off my list when my mother started shopping there.
