Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick

Anyone use it?

Do you use it instead of blusher or over the top?

Is it very sparkly?

Is it very bright?

Does anyone have the Pink Quartz one?

I have a devil of a job with blusher. I use Porcelain shade foundation by B Brown and find almost all blushers too bright/dark. Currently using theirs in nude peach but it's still quite pink, and bright, and I prefer a peachy shade. Also just bought their Pot Rouge in a pinky peach shade but again, it's too pink even though advertised as peachy, and it wears off very quickly.

I've recently tried Clarins blusher , B Brown, Clinique in Peach ( quite nice but a bit orange) so am thinking maybe NARS is the next one to try.

I have a make up bag full of expensiveblushers which are just not " quite" right.

I don't OP but maybe look at Me Me Me in Superdrug as I think they may possibly have something similar to the shimmer brick

I've had the BB Shimmer Brick and ending up giving it away because I wasn't that keen. My current favourite blushers are the M&S gel cheek tints, very natural and easy to use and Make Up Forever HD Blush, which comes in loads of shades but is quite expensive.

I use the Shimmer Brick and I like it. I use it instead of blusher. Nars also do nice blushers- I have a mini one bought by DDs and I alternate between the two. I don't wear much make-up though so I am not an expert.

I wear Porcelain foundation and find Benefit's Dandelion blusher is lovely.

barbie1 · 28/08/2012 09:40

missbopeep what skin tone are you? Are you cool or warm? I'm asking this because it could be that you are buying from the wrong shade palette to start with, thus resulting in the blushes looking to harsh/ dark.

Have you tried estée lauders peach nuance? It looks daunting but is a perfect shade for almost anyone. The good thing with this product is that you can build the colour up, or wear it subtle as you like it.

Oh and as for bobbi brown shimmer brick, you will probably look like a cast member from the 'only way is Essex' if you use it as a blusher, it's very shiny and the pink one is very pink. I use the apricot one, but as I have very dull skin I cagey away with the added shine. I either use it all over as a bronzed or as a highlighter, I even use it as an eyeshadow.

Lottapianos · 28/08/2012 09:43

MissBoPeep, I would second the recommendation for Benefit's Dandelion - it's a very pale pink and looks lovely on. If you want something a bit more lively, Benefit's Coralista is a lovely peach shade which is warm but still subtle. Both are about the £20 mark so fairly pricey but I use my Coralista several times a week, have had it for 2 years + and haven't made much of a dent in it! A cheaper alternative would be Boots Natural Collection blushers which are about £2 a pop - Pink Cloud is a nice colour.

Thanks. My skin tone according to E Lauder is neutral- but I think it's more cool. I have grey-green eyes and blonde ( highlights) - goldy brown hair. I don't know really.

I used to use prescriptives blusher but they don't exist, then tried a Laura mercier one which was lovely then they discontinued it- I have seen some NARS shades that look possible, and I have tried Dandelion on my hand. Isn't there a peachy equivalent of Dandelion?

Ok, if it's cool anything with a warm tone will certainly show more. Peach is warm so the effect will be more dramatic. Look for bluey toned pinks. Lancôme have some fab ones.

violetbunny · 28/08/2012 10:15

I prefer Dior's shimmer powder in Ambre Diamond to any of Bobbi's shimmer bricks hands down. It's beautiful, subtle and natural.

Re blushes, I love NARS ones and have many of them. I agree that the BB Pot Rouges don't last very long - have you tried Becca's cheek stains? There are some lovely pink and peach shades (try Guava and Peach).

Lottapianos · 28/08/2012 10:19

The peachy equivalent of Dandelion would be Georgia for pale peach, or Coralista for something a bit warmer and livelier. I have used Georgia and wouldn't buy it again - barely showed up on my skin. I absolutely love Coralista though.

mumof3teens · 28/08/2012 10:30

I have 2 BB shimmer bricks (in Rose and Bronze) and love them. The BB consultant told me to use over blusher, which I do. I use the pot rouge underneath. You need to use a really big brush for the bricks I find.

Callmecordelia · 28/08/2012 13:08

I have a similar colouring to you and have loved Dandelion. Only reason I'm not using it now is because I'm tight someone gave me some Estee Lauder blusher as a gift.

MissBoPeep · 28/08/2012 13:32

Thanks all- will go and explore!
