Loafers/slipper shoes

So I have decided I NEED some loafers (or slipper shoes). Will be wearing with straight leg jeans or cropped black trousers mostly. Would be v grateful for opinions on below or recommendations....

sensible, classic, go with everything, not too £££

or
bit more £££ but I think I love them (but scared they would look dated in 6 months)

Both of those styles would not look out of place on a ninety year old.

Russell and Bromley do some lovely flats or Boden. Don't dress like a geriatric before your time!!

HappyGirlNow · 27/08/2012 19:46

These , these , these or these?

PlumSykes · 27/08/2012 19:49

Topshop

libertychick · 27/08/2012 22:21

Grin gabbymum I feared geriatric potential!

Russell and Bromley website is not uploaded yet as I was going to look there. Nothing really grabbed my attention in Boden.

HappyGirlNow and PlumSykes thanks for the suggestions. I am not that keen on studded. I need a pair of shoes I can do some walking in and I am unbelievably clumsy and I just know I'd knock the studs off and suspect I'd skin my ankles with them (makes me sound really weird but I constantly seem to kick my own shins, trip and have in the past fallen over in very low wedge and broken my foot so I need something sturdy!!!)

Also tried on several pairs of shoes in Topshop the other day and they were generally very hard leather and uncomfortable (sounding more geriatric by the minute...best stop now)

Can anyone help - loafer, black, comfy and not too much of a style crime???

Thanks in advance Thanks

any of these any good?

libertychick · 27/08/2012 22:37

Thanks Trixy - all very lovely (especially the leopard print) but don't look good for walking in - soles all looks very thin.

I love the Edelman ones too, but not sue I'd spend that much on something that may be a short lasting trend.

trixymalixy · 27/08/2012 22:50

Clarks have some leopard ones that look a bit more substantial.

libertychick · 27/08/2012 22:53

Yes they are an investment popcornia - usually £80 is about my limit with shoes and even at that I have to be convinced I love them. I love how they are styled in that link as with cropped trousers at work is probably how I would wear them most. They also look lovely with the short skirt - I have a short A-Line skirt that I intend to wear to work this winter with opaques and thought they might be good with that.

Get the second pair, they are gorgeous.

Or these cheaper ones

libertychick · 27/08/2012 23:17

Yippee, after a slow start the Edelman's are now getting the enabling votes I needed! Have already spent too much this month though so will have to wait a few weeks.

Like the urban outfitter ones too (thanks tethers) - I never think to check out that shop on line for some reason but whenever I go into one I always see stuff I like.

Get the Edelman's.

libertychick · 28/08/2012 00:04

Grin getting them this month would mean returning electric blue jumper, purple cords and black dress

That said, cords and dress are in the post and I haven't actually tried them on yet so could potentially just not try them and send straight back.

The jumper I adore and it's staying in my possession! I want it in other colours, really soft and lovely drapey fit.

The thing is, you have to get them now, as you've just linked to them on t'interweb, and they'll be sold out by morning. Probably.

Grin
libertychick · 28/08/2012 00:18

Hmmmm was hoping they might be too expensive for that but then based on what I have ascertained about the shopping habits of the Mumsnet Vogue lot £148 for shoes is probably small change! Off to bed, will sleep on it!

Bad tethers trying to max out my cc with vicarious shopping...Wink

The Clarks ones are good, I found them too wide, but I do have weirdly narrow feet. River Island have some too.

Loveleopardprint · 28/08/2012 07:52

I love my black patent Chester loafers from Russell and bromleys. They have seen me through many rainy days and just wipe clean. Can't link as on phone sorry.

MarshaBrady · 28/08/2012 08:02

The Edelman ones are fab.

gabbymum · 28/08/2012 16:43

Those black patent Chester loafers from Russell and Bromley are gorgeous - practical and stylish - youthful without running the risk of being "mutton." Think I'm going to get a pair myself.

Sorry but still think the Edelman ones wouldn't look out of place in a nursing home but that's just my opinion.

Let us know which ones you go for!

TiggerWearsATriteSmile · 28/08/2012 17:22

They are hideous and should not be seen outdoors.

Did I mention they are hideous?
