Adult acne!

Can someone please give me some advice on my skin?

For about the past three months my skin has gotten really bad. I've always been spot prone but am now looking like I've just hit puberty.

I'm 35, not currently on any medication or contraception. I don't know what has suddenly made this happen?!

By the time I get to work in the morning my make up has literally slid off my face as I'm producing so much oil. I can't go make up free as I look awful.

Any suggestions? This is really getting me down!

Go to your GP if there are lots of spots, or if they are leaving marks. I wouldn't faff about for too long. Adult acne can be difficult to treat. You may need treatment or referral to a dermatologist.
Stay off dairy, www.acnemilk.com/, and limit your fruit intake (fruit sugars are pro-inflammatory, I think).

I second going to your GP. I faffed about for MONTHS trying various different cosmentic "solutions", and in the end a course of antibiotics sorted them out in a few weeks.

Also, the temptation with spotty/ oily skin is to use really harsh, astringent products to try and "dry" it out - I found that milder, creamier products (weirdly) made it much less oily. Currently using a Cetaphil cleanser, no toner (splash with cold water instead) and an Aveeno moisturiser - would recommend.

I had this for a whole too. It lasted around six months and only stopped after a prescription from the GP. I forget what I was given, but it was a kind of 'roll on' for the face. Within two weeks my skin was back to normal and after a while I found I didn't need the prescription any more. I also find only drinking water improves my skin hugey.

Good luck OP, adult acne is awful but it can be sorted Smile

Go to your GP. I messed around for years with horrid acne, went to the doctors and had several years on Spironolactane, which worked a treat. Now I just control the odd breakout with Duac gel.
