Can you recommend a good range for combination, extremely sensitive skin?

Hello! My skin is quite oily on my nose and chin, normal to dry on my cheeks, and it is also extremely sensitive. Moisturizers designed for sensitive skin are too greasy and give me pimples. Those for oily / combination skin are too harsh and leave me red and itchy. Could you recommend a (cheap) brand please?

Have you tried the oil cleansing method. I am a recent convert after reading about it in here, and I am loving it.

Basically you rub oil on your face, then have a steamy face cloth over it, then slough the oil off.

There are loads of websites about it so it's easy to find the best oil/oils for your skin type.

Thanks savoy. Is it quick / convenient on a day-to-day basis? I'm expecting DC3 and I don't see myself bringing a steamy face cloth to the bathroom every day Grin

I have a stack of face cloths in my bathroom and the oil is mixed and ready in a soy sauce bottle Blush

I am just using hot tap water and standing there with it on like a loon. I am not lying down. Who has time for that!! Grin

You use the same facecloth for washing it off.

Then in the morning, you just use water.

I have sensitive but normal/dry skin and I find La Roche Posay very good.

They do products for sensitive/oily skin too.

NO NO NO to oil cleansing method: I came out in horrible bumps and spots that took aaaaages to go away (and the scars took even longer to fade).

Definitely recommend La Roche. I use the Physiological eye make up remover all over my face (most toners and face washes are usually too harsh for me) and moisturise with Effaclar Duo.

For eyes haven't tried La Roche stuff yet but Eve Lom, REN or Caudalie have been good options so far.

Haven't been able to make a decision on what SPF to try. Still fearing a repeat of the oil cleansing method debacle. sigh.

I would suggest one of the french pharmacy ranges such as La Roche Posay / avene / physiogel?

laptopwieldingharpy · 26/08/2012 13:36

Try a very basic routine of 2 products ( cleanser + moisturising treatment cream)

Oil cleansing is hit and miss.
Absolutely not recomended for sensitive skins due to heat/steam.

I know the French pharmacy ranges (I live in France) but they are far, far too expensive. I usually have friends or family go to Boots or Superdrug for me Grin.
Frankie I once found a (heavily discounted) matifying SPF from Roc. It was great - not greasy at all but very kind to my skin.

Liz Earle.

Javotte why not try a "savon surgras" to gently cleanse and sweet almond oil to moisturize?
Use the oil sparingly where needed. Let it sink for 5 mn then wip off/ pat excess with a tissue?
