How do you wear your bras?

Do you like to wear them super tight so you know they are there and leave bra marks when you take them off, or have them at a looser more comfortable setting? Im asking this because i have realised all of my old bras are pretty super tight on me, but my new ones are so comfortable and no way as tight but i wonder if they will still support my bust the same?

I used to wear a 36A when I first wore bras.

Now I wear a 32D.

i always thought a D cup was massive but it's not - it's about the same size as your cupped hand (if you are about a 32)

Haunted, it is totally possible that your 36A is too tight, but 32DD might fit fine - 36A cup is the same size as 32C, so it's simply too small and the breast have to go somewhere.

mirai as ItsAll said, D is not necessarily massive, it depends on your underbust measurement as well. A 30D is the same size breast as 34B or 36A.

The idea that D is massive and DD out of this world is simply because most people with big breasts are wearing the wrong size of bra. You often hear claims that a busty person is something ridiculous like 52DD - the heck they are. Or Lindsay Lohan claims to be 36DD - she is tiny and could wrap a 36 bra around her twice.

The band looks too tight. Surely if it fits you shouldn't have 'bulges' (for want of a better word) like she has on her right under the band?

I actually pulled my top tight over my bra last night and I have bulges where fat overhangs my tight bra band on my back. If I was to wear tight clothes I certainly wouldn't have a smooth profile.

I get that cup sizes change with the band. I just don't get that I will need a smaller band when the band that I currently wear is uncomfortable cos its too tight. My cups certainly aren't and don't make it too tight...its the band on its own!

And I am way smaller than that model - cupwise

Honestly, I know it sounds mad and you can't see that it'll work, but please trust us . In a good fitting bra you will not get lumps, overspill or back fat. Yes, the band may feel tight at first after wearing such a loose one but you will soon get used to it.

Your current band is uncomfortable because it is the wrong size and your boobs are unsupported as dragging on your band. A 36C would be excruciating on me but a 30G is very comfortable.

As mentioned a few posts ago, bra sizes given for busty celebs (eg Christina Hedricks) are wrong. The media promoted that anything above a D is 'outsize' and therefore celebs never say that they're bigger than a DD they just increase the band size and say "oh yes I'm a 36DD"! For example, I've seen a magazine saying Katie Price is a 38DD. She is tiny and is probably something like a 26GG.

A D, DD, E, F etc are not big sizes it's just we've been conditioned to think they are.

Can you post some pics? Side, front and back views would enable some of us to give you a better opinion about possible problems. Obviously, a fitting at Bravissimo or JL is the best idea. Don't discount Bravissimo, I bet they'll have bras to it you .

mirai, if you measure 30-36 then the 30D might be too small. Could you order a 30E as well?

mirai that's where style comes into play - a plunge might help (forget the old wonderbra cleavage thing) or a balcony might compensate for the empty top bit. Or maybe not, you may need something different. An open mind and an excellent fitter is what you need. I used to wear full cups but now mine are a bit 'emptier' on top I find a moulded semi push up makes them look full and pertish but without top wobble.
Also the size you need will differ depending on the style that suits. You really need to find a wonderful lady and an hour or 2 in a decent fitting place. It will be sooooo worth it.

Mirai - I have sailor shape boobs (all the fullness on the bottom!) and I find that half cup and balconette styles work well for me. Plunge styles (e.g. Freya Deco) just don't suit me. Be prepared to try different styles in a range of sizes before you find some really great bras for you.

In my drawer I have sizes 30FF to 32G in a range of makes and styles. The lovely thing and going somewhere like Bravissimo or R&G is that they will take the time to find the right style and shape for you. A good local independent lingerie shop should be able to do the same. Where do you live?

So, if I am 42 inch under boob, and 46 across boob, that would make me a 42 D?

If yes, that is what M&S measured me as but i have a real problem with back fat (the hamster look, you know!). What do I dooo????? !!!

It is nice to hear that the media as usual talk bollocks about bra size. I am a 30J (I think ). People usually look aghast at "J" (not that I wander round discussing my bra size with everyone )

I am fairly norky but I think that's because I'm not tall and fairly slim elsewhere. I am of all those rounded boobs. Mine look like sad mangoes after having 2 kids
