Pedicure...Podiatrist...Fish?!

HELP!

I have really horrible feet as a result of never wearing shoes around the house/garden. My hard skin has hard skin. DH has taken to calling me 'rhino feet'. Blush

I've tried the Mumsnet Soap and Glory footfile and it won't make a dent. I've tried heel cream. No change.

So I think I might need the professionals. What's the best option? Any experiences of podiatrists? Pedicures? Fish that eat your feet? Which give the best results? Or any other home tips?

Thanks in advance!

I'd definitely start with a properly qualified chiropodist/ podiatrist if the hard skin's that bad. Then you'll be able to maintain your own feet with plenty of moisturising cream.

I use beauty therapists/ pedicures only for 'beautfying', ie applying nail polish - never if there's anything at all serious awry with my feet.

I wouldn't go near fish myself - save the money for the chiropodist and then a pedicure/ nail paint on your newly improved feet!

Agree, proper chiropodist type thing best for hard skin, then you can do maintenance with yr file and cream yourself.

American nails or the like nail bar- one in most towns. They are the only place that get rid of my hard skin and I am also known as rhino feet! Usually about £30

The fish pedicures are by far the best I've ever had. But obviously you need someone to file and paint your nails afterwards. They haven't found fish that can do that yet! Grin

I had a fish pedicure and it was crap. It made no difference whatsoever. There were 3 fish feet places in my town and they've all closed down now, for good reason in my opinion.
Go to a chiropodist.

Itsgottabebags · 24/08/2012 21:43

Yes Lexie its the same in my area loads of those fish places closed.

I went to a chiropodist OP and for 10 pound they removed my hard skin (not much) cut my toe nails correctly I think and creamed my feet (put lots of flexitol on). Was lovely

You need 20% urea cream. The one I know is flexitol heel balm. You need to apply religiously twice a day and foot file inbetween times.

Don't do the fish thing. Horrible, grim and I think a little cruel... although I am not fish lover per se.

Scholl do a great foot treatment - google their services.

Well I find the fish spa great, but I don't have a huge build up of hard skin. My feet are left really soft. And the salon I use look after their fish really well, although I can see there is scope for less scrupulous salon owners to skimp on the care.
