It's hard work combining hi lights and tint isn't it?

What do you do if you have a lot of grey?

I do like having hi lights (but normally only if there's a special offer on) but I need a permanent tint too as I've got a lot of grey.

Normally I just do my roots at home but then of course after a while, I have block colour for the first few inches of my hair, then the growing out hi lights further down. So it looks a bit of a mess.

Do you think I should not bother with hi lights and just have a regular tint instead? Colour wise, I normally have a chestnutty brunette tint and caramel hi lights.

I have similar colouring and lights. I've started to lighten my base to tone with the lights IYKWIM. Lighter base is easier to handle too, greys aren't as obvious.

My hairdresser also blends the lights in well- she will pull through some base colour in grown-out lights. I've done this myself at home with an old mascara brush. She also told me to just run the colour on the actual root... Not brush it down the shaft at all. The colour will travel down anyway. I was dubious about this but it does work!

Hmm yes I can see a lighter colour would work better with the greys but I've always been dark brown...I don't think lighter would suit me....
