i reckon a soft mid brown always works a treat personally, works whatever your eye colour apparently too or so i've heard.
i always come back to this cheap staple in 'crushed walnut'
generally just a quick brush across the eyelids from the far corners and along the crease
and then sometimes also use it into evening as a base with a shadow that has greater depth to it layered over in the corners and in the crease.
a fine kohl line and a touch of mascara and it makes a really simple but effective daytime look
hth

How much are you wanting to spend? Neutral beige tones are my choice to wake my eyes up and make them lighter as they look naturally dark sadly! I use the following alternating as I fancy -
loreal studio secrets eyeshadow number 321 which is for green eyes
Mac "ploof" or "sugar shot" favourites also are their mineralize range "this and that" or

"bright side gallery girl"
If you like loose pigments then mac "vanilla" or "your lady ship" or bare minerals "queen Phyllis" and "cultured pearl" are two I mix together

Get thee to a Bobbi Brown counter. They pull out shades which look like nothing but magically work! I love the shade 'slate' which is a sort of light grey mauve.

I believe the theory is that light shades work to make your eyes look bigger, I use a mac paint pot in a shade that pretty much matches my skin tone, and then ( this bit, I think depends on your eye shape - mine are an almond shape so I like to emphasise this ) use a neutral brown or a grey just on the outer corners. You can also put a neutral eye liner on your lower water line, and, as ever, I'm sure I've seen Pixiwoo tutorials on making eyes look bigger on that there YouTube

Was also going to say Bobbi Brown. They chose a taupe-y shade for me that I never would have chosen in a million years, but it is fantastic!

You might need two eyeshadows. Placement and technique of application will do more to "open" the eyes than simply just the colour. It really depends on the shape of your eyes what would work best so going to an artist brand counter and asking for some tips is a good idea. The theory that browns and beiges suit everyone is an absolute myth. For a lot of people it can be really draining. If you just want one colour to brighten your eyes and look a bit more awake then I would recommend something like Naked Lunch by MAC, which is a light pinky peach with a shimmer to it. It will also accentuate your eye colour as it contains complementary tones to both blue and green. If you want something to add a bit of definition then something like their Shale eyeshadow is really good, especially for greenish eyes. Probably a similar colour to BB Slate by the description above.

... Daybreak, it's lovely all over lid/ brow bone, with a soft black/ grey liner and black mascara. Pricey but doesn't crease like a similar MAC one u just bought.
