dark patches on knees and feet - help!

Presumably because I spend all day scrabbling round on the floor after 18mth DS I have developed dark dry patches on my knees and the tops of my feet. These are now so bad that someone asked if I'd bruised myself today! Any tips to get rid? At this rate I'll never wear a dress again!

I have these too. I have been using my kids' eczema cream epaderm, which has helped a bit, but bumping for more ideas

Bodyscrub and moisturiser would prob help.

I got the same thing when I was renovating my apartment and doing lots of painting and scrubbing - on the knee cap and bony bits of my feet. From my experience it was actually bruising as it faded through all the bruise colours green, yellow etc. So maybe a bit of witch hazel to help it along and moisturiser for the dryness?

I have this too!
In fact have had it for the last 2 yrs which I have spent scrabbling round on the floor. Hoping someone has an answer but I fear it might be getting up....

Bucket-loads of body butter!

I've got a dark patch of crocodile skin on one foot (from a pair of sandals I had when I was about 10) nothing makes it go completely but the best things are banana skin, rub the inside of the skin on the patch of skin and leave it for awhile before washing off it softens the skin and olive oil slapped on it after then putting socks on for a few hours.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I have been using body lotion but it isn't helping. Just looks so horrible......

Use a body scrub on these areas and then the foot cream Flexitol - this worked wonders for my dry, patchy knees. I also have a random dark patch on my thumb joint that has almost gone now too.

P.S. this definitely isn't bruising. It's been there permanently for at least a year but they seem to be getting darker in the sun. I think it is build up of dry skin but scrubs etc. don't seem to make a difference.

I had these (also from scrabbling around after children) and I found Hydromol eczema ointment works wonders at getting rid of them. It's a very waxy type of ointment and I often end up with lots on my hands after 'creaming' DD3 so I used to wipe it on my callouses. In a few days they had almost gone!

You could also try vaseline to see if that works (you can buy hydromol over the counter though).

Ooooo - DS has eczema - we use Epaderm - will try that then! Thanks TruthSweet
Any other tips much appreciated. Now that someone commented on them yesterday at a BBQ I feel really self conscious!

Slather the cream on thickly then leave for a bit then soak in the bath and it should rub off (which is a bit grim tbh!). Mine actually need doing again as I haven't put the Hydromol on for a while (I've been rubbing it in my hands instead!)

OP, I could have written your posts Sad. People have also commented on my lovely dark patches, but I am still wearing skirts and dresses and living in denial! I scrub and moisturise daily, sometimes twice, and have tried rubbing halved lemons on the patches too, to no avail (am sure I read that tip on here in another thread!). I am heading out tomorrow to get some Hydromol. I'll try anything. It's horrible.
