Ingrowing hair nightmare - does anything work?

For the first time in ages (I have been shaving!) I had my legs waxed a month ago. Now, I have a crop of ingrowing hairs all over my legs. It looks like I haven't shaved; they're just there under the skin, growing straight. (I have read of bumpy skin etc; I don't have this, just a straight hair trapped under the skin.

I have been exfoliating: with my Espa scrubbing brush, and this morning I had a go with a homemade sugar scrub, which I used vigorously. But they're not budging an inch.
I have also been using Nad's Ingrow Solution twice daily from a few days after the wax. Clearly that's not working.
I've also shaved a couple of times to see whether that 'exfoliates' or shifts them IYKWIM.

So, how do I get them out? Tweezers? A pin?
And does anything work or should I just give up on waxing now?

Not sure if it's the wax my therapist uses, or her technique but I used to suffer really badly with ingrown hairs until I started going to her. She uses Ceteum Aromatherapy wax, might be worth looking up? Sorry no cures for the actual buggers you're left with now, apart from what everyone else has said!

Prevention is better than cure, I find if I keep up the routine of regularly exfoliating and moisturising, it doesn't happen so much.

Once you've actually got them, digging them out one by one with tweezers is the only effective way I've found to get rid, sorry. Do it carefully though, so you don't damage and scar the skin.

I think the beauticians technique has an awful lot to do with it. I went to one woman (only the once!) and her wax was scalding hot, I lost a layer of skin afterwards and had terrible ingrowing hairs.

Superdrug do a toner which hs a high concentration of salicylic acid, I have found this helpful for bikini line but not infallible alas

I'd always heard exfoliation was the thing, but clearly it's not showing results across the board. Have you tried tea tree oil? Helps me, I apply it mixed with carrier oil post-wax, meant to be antiseptic/antifungal therefore helps to a degree with the in-growns. Otherwise watching with interest for ideas.

salicylic acid, another Tend Skin they are all the same, a crushed Aspirin in some booze/acid solution, the booze/acid is spost to strip off the top layer of skin while the salicylic acid is an anti-inflammatory to reduce redness and stop infection.

Such things may help the ingrowing hairs that curl into a ball in the follicle and go red and infected but they do fuck all for straight hairs growing happily just under the skin.

Don't waste your money if you are really interested in trying one of those things just make your own for a couple of pennies instead of spending a fortune, get some crushed up aspirin, clear booze like overproof rum or vodka and add a little oil to help moisturise the skin or just do it after.
