Are they worth the cash?

I've had mine for at lease 14 years, possibly longer

Still like new (when I can be arsed to wash it)

CHOOGIRL · 17/08/2012 20:14

They last forever. If you can afford one go for it.

madmomma · 17/08/2012 20:16

thanks gold is it nicer to use than a ordinary brush? Better for reducing static or just a naice brush?

I've had mine since I was 15, (I'm 33 now!) it's lovely. Its really good on long hair, brushes out tangle easily, not sure about it reducing static though.

Not what you asked but i have the £20 denman. Its very good, massages my scalp.

Technoprisoners · 18/08/2012 12:53

I got mine when I was 16, one specifically for long, thick hair. I'm now 45 and it's still going strong, but I've really looked after it over the years. The boar bristles are like new (and I think the best for putting a shine on your hair), although the rubber bed is beginning to rot slightly in one place - not surprising after all this time though! No use for styling, more for distributing oils evenly along hair shaft.

I've got one for the dogs, long silky coats, had it years.

thanks everyone. I bought the extra large one at the weekend and it's lovely Smile It definitely makes my hair shinier and feels really different to a nylon one. Hopefully it'll last long enough for me to pass it on to dd1!

i am a bit of an investment purchaser. Bought one in 1976 and it is still going strong, though now handed down to luxtrous locked dd!

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 23/08/2012 13:16

I got mine when I went to boarding school at 11. I'm now in my 40s and it's still going strong!

hackneyzoo · 23/08/2012 13:35

DD1 has the one I had as a child, it's now about 30!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 23/08/2012 13:50

argh...something else to add to my wanted list.

Eliza22 · 23/08/2012 16:36

I have one. Bought it when I was 19 as I have dead straight, thick hair. When my hair was long, I used this all the time. Now, at nearly 50, my hair is shortish and I only ever comb it.

But, I still use the MP brush from time to time for a good, scalp stimulating brush that produces shine and no static.

So, that's 31 yrs of service!

just worked out mine is 36! no wonder they are expensive
