Hunters....sizing advice and where to buy?

Can anyone advise on sizing? I'm tall so was planning on going for the unisex ones as these seem to come up slightly taller on the leg. Does that mean they are more generous in size than the Huntress ones?

Also any tips on cheapest place to buy? Amazon seem to have them for approx £60 with free delivery/returns.

TIA

Huntress are much more generous on the calf, but the original tall are higher IYKWIM. So it would depend on what yo were after. Also, its advised to go up a size if you want to wear a welly sock in them.

£60 is a good price, retail is usually about £80 on the original tall and they will be going up for Autumn/Winter (I know someone who works in the offices)

TK Maxx has a lot of these, in bright colours.

I got neoprene ones I think they were Balmorals ladies they come up to just below my knee and I'm 5 foot 8 inches tall. I got them online off Uttings they were very good I bought a size 8 as I wear loads of socks but they would be too big if I was to wear them with one pair. I love my wellies to bits.

Another vote for the Hunter Balmorals here. Really comfy and warm (got the bamboo carbon lined ones as find neoprene a little sweaty) and good fit for my rather generously proportioned calves. Think there is a choice of olive or brown only so more traditional colours so maybe not right if you wanted purple or something!

Think I got mine from gardenforless website.

I have a pair of the standard navy Hunters in a 9 and they are plenty tall enough for me (am 5'10 with long legs).

I got mine from my local agricultural supplier for about £35 iirc but the colours are limited to navy and bottle green - if you want other colours they do stock them but they may well be dearer.

However the rubber on mine has perished after just two years, so I'm not best pleased. I'd probably buy cheaper knock-offs as I think they trade on their name rather than their quality these days.

After two years? I'm surprised as are guaranteed for that by hunter. Also shocked at £35 tbh as I'm pretty sure that's below wholesale

I paid £40 for tall gloss ones in TK Maxx a couple of months ago.

I'm 5ft 10 with very long legs and the original Hunter boots are about 3 inches below my knee, they are a generous size and no need to buy a size bigger.

Tigresswoods · 15/08/2012 22:17

Hunters come up big so choose your size carefully.

Victoria3012 · 15/08/2012 22:18

Sorry, forgot to add I've had mine for 3 years and paid about £55 for them from a garden centre, other than being very dirty they are in great condition still.

I have some Ariat ones. Horribly expensive but I'm just over 5ft 7 and they come pretty much to my knees! They are also vv adjustable round calves. (My calves are too fat even for huntress ones!)
Feel free to pm me if you want the exact name.
