So probably nothing too skimpy wellies, anorak & souwester no good eitherWink

I need to spend 'not a lot' and I love this but not the colour or is this too casual for wedding on a beach? or quite like this or but is blue better? or like this but not the colour (much)

so confused & they all seem a bit formal

In my experience it is often very windy on Norfolk beaches, so I'd opt for either a pencil skirt or trousers. A maxi billowing in an easterly breeze or a short flippy skirt can expose more than you may care for...

KatyMac · 13/08/2012 18:56

Very windy, oh poo!

I do like a skirt, but not a short one......'tis for the dancing afterwards & a longer full skirt is so much fun to dance in

Damn

But Bienchen, a pencil skirt on a beach? Really? What shoes?

BlueMoon74 · 13/08/2012 19:04

Which Norfolk beach and when?! Norfolk is beautiful. Can be windy - agree. Can also be very warm, and much drier than here 'up north'!

Shoes are your biggest issue I would think - hence why I asked which beach! Sandy or stones?

Bienchen · 13/08/2012 19:13

^ Wedges would be the safest bet, height depending on the type of beach but not sky high. Change of shoes for the dancing.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/08/2012 19:14

One of the 50's dresses with a good petticoat (or 2) would be fine in the wind I think. It'd blow about but attractively.

I like the blue best of the ones you linked to - the hepburn style dresses are lovely but not so flattering on a big bust (which I'm assuming you have 'cause of the pepperberry link).

LadyVintage have a good choice in both styles from about 30 quid up to 50 ish. But, I'm guessing you'll end up making your own, In which case, some of that weighted thread (for use in net curtains) in the hem would sort any blowy problems.

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/08/2012 19:15

these would be OK for the beach and are reasonably vintagy

RandomMess · 13/08/2012 19:16

M&S sell some amazing very thin and warm and non sweaty silk mix thermals Grin you could take them off for the reception Wink

KatyMac · 13/08/2012 19:17

Definitely change of shoes for dancing...I can't wait

But no I don't think I'll be making it - no time (actually I do have time), can't find a pattern I like (possibly real reason as I spent 2 hours in dress shop on wed) not sure about my skills close up (dance dresses are different)

Big bust - yep 39, 32, 39 hourglass but all a bit too close together

Right, 50's is fab for you then. What's your colouring?

KatyMac · 13/08/2012 19:20

Dark brown (going grey) very fair skinned (almost yellow) & brown eyes

Off to collect DD back later, sorry

OP posts:
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/08/2012 19:26

mmm, then the blue / green surely won't be very flattering? this?, monochrome?

ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/08/2012 20:29

Erm, you do know those dresses never come with a petticoat don't you? Bargainous here though.

KatyMac · 13/08/2012 21:40

I have a several petticoats

Blue/green normally works for me as long as it isn't pastel (I'm a deep winter if you believe Colour me Beautiful circa 1997)

The black & white is lovely but I adore the purple

KatyMac · 13/08/2012 21:45

& this is sigh

OP posts:
ProcrastinationAteMyMorning · 13/08/2012 22:02

and they only have your size left Grin

What acessories do you have hanging about?

KatyMac · 13/08/2012 22:11

For the roses but I wouldn't fit a 14 Sad

Black high satin for dancing (or gold)
Nice black shawl
Black satin bag

But it's all a bit black.....

If I went purple
Grey suede for dancing
No shawl
No bag

OP, are you dying your hair? It'll make you look years younger, compared to grey. Speaking as someone who knows!

KatyMac · 13/08/2012 22:12

this says it's pink it looks very orange to me

OP posts:
KatyMac · 13/08/2012 22:14

& this would kill me colourwise

I should dye; but then I get roots

I'd rather fade gracefully

Or red!

OP posts:
KatyMac · 13/08/2012 22:15

this is nice but would be baggy at the waist

KatyMac · 13/08/2012 22:20

Coo-ee !! I can't see you !

KatyMac · 14/08/2012 08:16

I told you it was for a very short time Wink

It's back (I think)

Sweet Katy, you may have been a deep winter in '97 but you're not now. The deep winter colours will be way too harsh on you now, I'm afraid. We all fade Wink

I adore the butterfly dress, surely you could take it in? The pink / orange / red / whatever it is dress doesn't look so nice to me TBH. The purple would be stunning, I'm sure we could rustle you up some cheap acessories. What sort of budget is 'not a lot' in your book?
