Off out soon and I need the following things:

mascara (usually use Lancome Definicils but can't afford it now. I like a v natural look)

a body moisturiser which will help maintain my tan and feel non-sticky

something to give my hair a treat, as it feels really dry and horrible

Can anybody recommend anything please? Thanks. :)

I got some argan oil for my hair the other day, from Boots, its fab. My hair is so different now! I always go to Lush for my body moisteriser but I know it's not everyone's cup of tea!

Hi Remus how was Greece? Or haven't you been yet?

Mascara - I find Max Factor are better than more expensive brands.

For a non-sticky moisturiser I would try St Tropez gradual tanner over the top of your existing tan. As long as you leave it to dry (I usually 5 mins of nakedness whilst putting on make up does the trick) it isn't too bad. I have always found Palmers Cocoa Butter Lotion to be excellent too. Again, you just need to do the wandering around naked thing for a few minutes :)

Try the L'Oreal hair treatments. I buy their products when I can't stretch to Kerastase and find their Full Restore 5 range excellent as is their Royal Jelly range.

I have been told that the Benefit mascara is very good - I think it's called "they're real" or something like that?!?!?!

LittleLula · 10/08/2012 10:49

I use the Benefit 'They're Real' mascara - it's amazing - makes it look as though you're very blessed in the lash department. However if you like a natural look it's probably not what you're after - it's quite dramatic. I think it cost £19...

Hope this helps - happy shopping!

Ooh lovely recs, thank you all!

Greece was fab - I ate a year's ration of feta in just one week.

Will look at Argan oil and L'Oreal for hair.

I used to really like Max Factor mascaras but haven't used them for ages - which ones are good now?

Not v fond of Lush stuff tbh and didn't like Benefit mascara - too clumpy.

Sorry Lula - crossed posts.

Glad Greece was good. Am aiming to do the same myself next week!

Re Max Factor mascara, the Masterpiece one is really good. A tenner I think. I always used either Chanel or YSL until I discovered this one and found it superior.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2012 11:19

Brilliant - will get that one.

Have a great holiday!

maybe too late, but very cheap and good holiday mascara is acollection 2000 this one www.collectioncosmetics.co.uk/eyes/mascara/big-fake-false-lash-effect-mascara.aspx

I brought it in the brown and its fab, lengthens lashes but without looking fake and its not fibrous like lots of the more expensive ones. I'm usually a benefit or ysl buyer but going to use this one up before i purchase a new one.

Body lotion, you can;t beat e45. non fragranced good price, and the moisturising effect will pro long your tan.

Kernowgal · 10/08/2012 15:02

Boots No 7 used to do a fantastic sensitive mascara - didn't clump and didn't promise to make your lashes as long as the Humber bridge etc etc, just a really good mascara. Don't know if they still do it but it was well worth the £7 or whatever I paid for it. I have very long lashes and excessive mascara can make me look like a Jersey heifer, but this stuff was the bees' knees.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2012 15:54

Thanks both. I didn't see your posts before I went.

I got a Max Factor mascara and some Organix Argan Oil conditioner.

I didn't like any of the body moisturisers that I saw though, so any more recs for that would be brilliant!

I am a huge fan of the Body Shop body butters - the olive oil one is lovely and not at all sticky. The coconut one is delish. I'd also second E45 cream. Vaseline used to do a lush aloe vera moisturiser that I'd put in the fridge and use as aftersun - again, not at all sticky but I don't know if they still do it.

JemimaPuddle · 10/08/2012 18:58

Superdrug Vitamin E body lotion in the tub is absolutely excellent and really cheap too.

LittleBarnOwl · 10/08/2012 19:08

The Palmers Cocoa Butter gradual tan body lotion is really good. it moisturisers really well, no stickiness and no fake tan smell at all! I love it, it's my holy grail body lotion/tanner.

LittleBarnOwl · 10/08/2012 19:09

Sorry for the typos, my iPad likes to make me look stupid.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/08/2012 20:31

Thanks all. I should have said that I don't like the smell of Palmers, or of anything that smells really sweet (eg Lush, Soap And Glory, most Body Shop stuff).

I usually use Aveeno or Clarins, but fancied a change.
