This is supposed to be a moisturising lotion that gradually builds up a tan. I used a Nivea one last year with no problems. I'm rubbish at applying self tan, so the no streaks softly softly approach is just right. However, I applied this at 8am yesterday, and 24 hours later I now have really obvious streaks and orange knees! Exactly what I was trying to avoid! By gradual, I thought it meant over several applications like the Nivea one, not that I'd have a nasty shock 24 hours later! PS anyone got any tips for getting it off, before I arrive at the ILs tonight to be teased mercilessly?!

I have heard toothpaste is good or soaking in the bath and a vigorous exfoliation helps. I have used this for ages and never had a problem, am assuming you rubbed it in well?

Having had similar disaster myself you can buy wipes to remove it. I think superdrug and boots sell them. Either that or you have to get scrubbing!

Lemon?
I think you can buy fake tan removal wipes.

Can't do links but the super drug wipes are here.

Really?! I've been using it intermittently for weeks and my legs are still their normal bluey-grey.

Whitening toothpaste or lemon with salt and some vigorous scrubbing!!

CointreauVersial · 10/08/2012 10:29

A bit late now, but if you have really dry knees (or ankles) it is best to rub a small amount of regular body lotion onto them before you apply the self-tan body lotion. Otherwise the dry areas suck up too much of the self-tan.

You'll know for next time.....Smile

pour some babyoil in a bath and it should take it right off- if there's still patches, then soak some babyoil onto some cotton wool and rub.

user12785 · 10/08/2012 10:54

Thanks everyone. I did know about the dry knee thing, but I thought it was a moisturiser with a hint of a tan if you are lucky, not full on self-tan! So no, I probably didn't put it on very well, just slapped it on quick like I would a moisturiser - which was the whole point of buying it! Have tried a salt scrub which has toned it down a bit, but will take myself and my orangutan hands off to Superdrug in a bit.

An hour in the swimming pool always restores me to my usual blue white state Wink

Discovered this the hard way after moisturising, exfoliating, applying tan carefully the night before so that I wouldn't look like a milk bottle in the swimming pool

Well at least I didn't look white on the way in to the water...

ENormaSnob · 10/08/2012 15:32

Did you use the darker one?

Maybe the lighter one would be better.
