What are the lowest maintenance hairstyles?

I want to have my hair cut in next week or so, baby due in 9 weeks, so it needs to be easy.

Currently, it is very fine, growing out of a choppy layered style, which just reaches my shoulders. Longest layers reach the top of my neck.

Any ideas?

I found a fringe really helped cut down time styling. I straighten my fringe (which is full) and can tuck the rest behind my ears, or in a pony. It looks styled but takes 2 mins!

I could handle that Smile

If you have a slight natural wave like me, a squirt of sea salt spray with a scrunch and then left to dry naturally works pretty well.
I've got a chin length bob with layers (no fringe as they need regular trimming).

The mumsnet haircut!! Love it, try it...:-)

very dependent on your hair type. Unless you are naturally blessed with very cooperative hair, I find that you either have hair that you have to spend time on at home, or hair that you have to go to a salon to trim regularly. For me the lowest maintenance is a short crop with a trim every 6 weeks. But I'm a bit fat for that now, and DH hates it, so I have it in a short graduated bob which is a compromise between the two. DH likes my hair much longer, but it's too much faff to style and I end up with it in a pony tail all the time which defeats the point.

I have a shortish "do". It's poker straight and very thick. I have it in a (slightly longer) Sienna Miller short hair style and I wash each morning. By the time I've got my face on and breakfasted......it's dry. No hair dryers, no messing. Every hair falls into place but, you need to get the advice of a really great hairdresser who knows what's low maintenance (or in my case, no maintenance) for you.

For years I mucked about with wands/dryers/heated curlers/products to try to get my poker straight long hair to "bend". It wouldn't have it! I gave up in the end, and get compliments on my cut all the time.

You have to go with a great cut in a style that suits your hair.

You say it's fine but has it thickened up at all in pregnancy? If so you will lose all that hair again after you've had the baby which may affect the style you choose.

If it's fine like mine then I'm guessing you need to use a hairdryer? If so get the most powerful hairdryer you can to cut down on drying time.

Shoulder length hair can be easy as you can put it up but if you're doing that everyday it does become pointless in having long hair.

Really short would probably be the least maintenance but will need regular trips to the hairdressers to keep it in shape.

Not much help really am I? Grin

No, it hasn't thickened up. I do usually dry low dry it, but not recently, as it's just too uncomfortable.

Was thinking of using one of these Groupon deals to go to a decent stylist.

I don't think my hair is long enough for the MN haircut, but wasn't really thinking of doing it myself.

Basically, want to look good without making an effort! Grin
