Anyone else out there? My right foot is a size 9.5 and my left a 9, making things even trickier.

I have a blog, with details of various shoe shops, which I'll attempt to add to my profile, but I rarely update it these days because I can't afford to buy shoes any more tiny violins

However, I was pleasantly surprised to find at the weekend that some Moshulu size 8s fit me, and some Clarks shoes too. I'm just glad that I don't have feet any bigger than this.

Signing in.
i'm between a 9 and a 10 depending on brand and am planning my autumn shoes/boots search.
Just ordered a couple of pairs of ankle boots from Clarks, but I think they will be too small.
Have seen some flat ankle boots at Long Tall Sally which I may order.
Love Crispins, but so expensive.
I have Duo Florence boots in a size 42 which are the best boots I've ever had...4 years old and still look amazing.

Kernowgal · 07/08/2012 20:43

Hello!

Yep, I vary massively, and am usually between a size 9 and 10, but have 8s from some places and even a 7 in a pair of boots from TK Maxx (though they are neat). I find LTS's 9 is too small and their 10 too big, which is a shame as they have some great styles.

I also have very narrow heels (rest of foot is more normal) so a lot of flats simply don't stay on my feet.

Crispins is outrageously expensive, even when I was earning good money I baulked at their prices. Magnus are cheaper but can be old-fashioned (though they are getting better). I've bought from Barefoot Tess in the States before but it's risky what with the shipping charges. I guess there's always the option to resell on Ebay.

Asda of all places has started doing size 9s, but they come up small. The sandals are a bargain though and generally fit fine.

Any store like New Look who say they sell 9's are big fat liars Grin..they are more like a 42.
And I have narrow feet, so a lot of shoes flap around.

Katie Long do big sizes, a lot of Gabor shoes, which I am inbetween sizes for in a shoe.

RuckAndRoll · 08/08/2012 09:47

ooh signing in to learn of some new places.

I love Tall Girls Had a brilliant pair of boots from here that lasted ages. Also Brantano are good for 9 and 10s and usually good prices.

RuckAndRoll · 08/08/2012 09:48

I forgot... these guys are great too after8 shoes A bit pricey but last for ages.

I'm a size 10 and tend to get mine from Evans -the choice has improved massively in there over the last 5 years -no good for narrow feet but perfect fr yettis Grin

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 08/08/2012 13:45

I think Deichmann have a shop at Westfield.

I used to buy a lot from Tallgirls...but they seem to do a lot of non leather now. And I have to wear leather.

After 8 used to have a shop near me but have closed...it is available form a place in Thames Ditton called Speacial Feetures. They do large sizes in mainly narrow fittings, but are so frumpy. Lots of American makes like Munro and Ros Hommerson, but imo catering for the classic 60plus woman.
I'm 52 but don't want sensible!!!

kiwiscantfly · 08/08/2012 17:13

Me too, I'm a 9/10 euro 43 and I'm so over shoe shopping in this country! I now wear havianas April to Sept and uggs the rest of the time. Thankfully I go home to NZ every year (and regularly to the US) where all shows come in big!

Kernowgal · 08/08/2012 23:00

It is always reassuring to know I'm not the only one out there!

Lots of places now seem to say that an 8 is equivalent to a 41, and a 9 is a 42, but it just isn't true.

I was recently in Spain and found that Gody has a large shoe section in its C/Cuarteles shop in Malaga - well worth a look, though not especially cheap. Spanish women have generally small feet but if you're in Madrid or Barcelona there are several shoe shops catering for big feet. Generally not too pricey either - try Andypola (www.andypola.es I think) for cheapy styles in larger sizes. France also has a few good options - in Paris there is Sagone at 44 Avenue de la Republique (metro Parmentier) with lots and lots of choice, and also Palais de la Chaussure on the other side of the road, plus Sacapuce (run by a lovely woman) at 13 Rue de Clignancourt (m Barbes-Rochechouart). So what better excuse for a dirty weekend in Paris??

Hush Puppies go up to a 10 in some shoes but I find their sizing is hit and miss, and a lot of the time they are too wide for my feet.

If you have plenty of cash to fling around try Selve in London - you can personalise the shoes to your taste but they aren't cheap!

I have bought off Amazon before, can be good for cheapies in the sale. French Sole go up to a 10 but again not cheap. I used to like TallGirls but the quality seems questionable these days.

kiwis I have been coveting the shoes from Willow Shoes for a while now - they have some really interesting styles. Why does nowhere here stock this sort of thing? I get so frustrated with the mumsiness of a lot of larger size shoes here :(

I am UK size 9AA. Here's a list of good online sites in the US, some of which deliver internationally:

Nordstrom
Zappos
Jildor
Endless
Shoes.com

At the pricier end, Stuart Weitzman does large sizes and are available through Russell and Bromley. Brands I have found that are good for long narrow feet (and are not hideous) are Vaneli and Via Spiga.

Next goes up to a size 43 - there are some 43s that work for me.

FairPlayPhyllis · 09/08/2012 06:54

I have also had snowboots that fit from Piperlime.

MrsRobertDuvallHasRosacea · 09/08/2012 11:35

The problem with buying from the states is the time scale and returns.
I just can't be arsed.
I have had Via Spiga before from a shop in Walworth, but haven't seen them anywhere else.

Kernowgal · 09/08/2012 18:35

Next is hit and miss for me - some things fit beautifully and others are too small. Via Spiga sounds interesting. There's also Totally on Chiltern St in London - I've bought a few pairs from them and they seem to have quite interesting styles.

When I was last in the States I went into Nordstrom and was open-mouthed at all the beautiful shoes available in my size. I just didn't know where to start. Hoping for another trip over there in the Spring so will take the train to Baltimore to visit Barefoot Tess too.

Sometimes I dream of setting up a shoe shop which sells long AND narrow AND fashionable shoes. Where is it written that everyone with long feet also has wide feet and/or is a frump? Don't places like Special Feetures understand that I will buy literally any shoe that fits me and that I also like?

I agree that Nordstrom is fabulous - now that they deliver to the UK my list of reasons to stay in the US has diminished. I don't know what the customs charges are like though - has anyone ordered from the US?

Selve looks amazing (and the website is so much fun!), but you could probably buy Stuart Weitzman cheaper.

Vaneli and Via Spiga are Italian, I think, so could conceivably be bought over there if you knew where to look.

There's also James Inglis in Peebles, but most of their things are granny shoes.

Vanfurgstan · 10/08/2012 02:36

M marking my place. I am a size 9 in some styles of shoes and 9.5 in others. I usually resort to ugly man shoes

ravenAK · 10/08/2012 03:12

Irregular Choice do some 42s.

Snug on me initially - I'm an 8 in Evans & a 9 everywhere else, but once you've worn them for a day, they feel amazing.

Iron Fist also do size 42 in some styles.

Demonia go up to a UK12 - they cater for the goth tranny market!

Will check out Barefoot Tess...

Kernowgal · 10/08/2012 12:06

I love Irregular Choice so was delighted when I saw they do some bigger sizes. Good to know about the initial snug fit getting better.

I really didn't need to know about Nordstrom shipping to the UK though - that information is very very dangerous! I often say that having size 9 feet has stopped me from becoming bankrupt, as if I had normal-sized feet I'd have hundreds upon hundreds of pairs.

Amber & Jade in London have lovely shoes for big and narrow feet, very pretty styles.

When I ordered from Barefoot Tess in Baltimore I think the shipping was around $40, which is not cheap. I ended up ordering several pairs and shipping seemed to be about the same. There are also companies that offer PO numbers for shipping, making it much cheaper, but I've not used one.

I recently treated myself to a pair of [http://www.clarks.co.uk/p/20350674 these]] and I am dead chuffed with them. They are very very soft and comfy and the size 9 has plenty of room - if they'd had an 8.5 I would probably have got away with it.

Now seriously tempted to buy them in every other colour, except I am skint.

Primark are doing 9's now and they have a wide fitting range too. I like Duo best, shoes last for ages and feel incredible.

Kernowgal · 27/08/2012 21:56

Primark eh? Well now, I was just planning a trip to Plymouth and there's a Primark there. Thanks!
