Alternative wedding dress which doesn't cost the earth?

Ooh, a S&B picture thread! I have a question up my sleeve (no pun intended Wink)

DP and I are engaged, and I've been thinking about wedding dresses.

I'm not into traditional white wedding dresses. I think they are lovely, but are simply not me at all, it's not what I want.

I'd like to get married in a colourful, pretty dress which has a sense of occasion, but it doesn't need to be weddingy at all. I expect it won't even come from a wedding range.

I don't want to spend the earth! Maximum budget probably about £500 but hoping to spend less. As I'll be giving birth between now and the wedding, I can't say for sure what size I'll be, but hopefully a curvy 14 (possibly more realistically a 16!)

Any ideas lovely mumsnetters? I'm not sure where to start!

this

or this

This website you can order in any colour you want!!

Can't embed these images, but have you seen that Ghost does bespoke dye-to-order dresses via John Lewis?

Scarlett lace sleeve dress available in blue and red which are quite 'pow' IMO!

Also, pretty green silk dress from Monsoon.

ScrambledSmegs · 08/08/2012 21:45

Or would you rather go the full boho and choose something like the above?

It's from a site called Miss Ethnic, if you're interested. Think it's a one off so size could be an issue.

I second etsy - lots of vintage or you can have it handmade to your measurements. I'll be etsying my wedding dress :)

I would have liked something like this, if I had had the time to get one made - the medieval vibe makes it a bit boho, without being a meringue.

herecomesthsun · 25/08/2012 15:37

more colourful...

Rhubarbgarden · 25/08/2012 23:15

Claire Pettibone might be good for wedding boho inspiration (actual dresses are probably overbudget and not colourful enough). I love this floaty one

Sorry can't do the picture thing.
