Hello!

My little newborn baby girl cries everytime her vest/bodysuit is taken over her head.

I use bodysuits with the stretchy envelop necks.

Does anybody elses baby hate clothes going over their heads when getting dressed?

Any suggestions!? Please help!

Do it quick and hug.

Just do it quickly and persevere. My DD hates her arms being put into sleeves (even vest and tshirt) I thought I had maybe done something to hurt her so tried doing it really gently but she still protested so now I just get on with it. Once she is dressed she's fine, always give her a wee cuddle tho.

They grow out of it quite quickly. You could get some wrap type vests with a line of poppers instead until she does. Tesco do them for newborns.

warnings help, say the same word with the same tone every time you're about to do it so its not a shock, I said "head in" each time and that helped

h&m does a few good styles that don't go over the head (also good for removing poo leakey clothes

I used to peep through the hole first, still do with a 3 year old Blush

If you really can't stand it, then do it feet first, the neck will stretch over the whole body (very useful for exploding poo/vomit etc)

Yup DS hates it too. In fact the whole nappy changing / clothes changing saga rarely passes without a full on rage, with tears and everything (he is 3mo).

I really hope he grows out of it! I just get it done as fast as I can (which sometimes isn't all that fast) then pick him up for a snuggle / bounce around.

it's because she loves you soooooo much, she can't bear to be out of sight for more than a few seconds so do it quick and then a big kiss for being so brave (for both of you).

It does pass.... eventually.

Totally normal, my ds hated being changed for months. We turned it into a game - as soon as he was naked we'd say 'Time to get dressed' and drape the clothes over him in a variety of silly ways - upside down, on one hand, across his legs etc, and urge him to get dressed quickly, give him silly encouragement to hurry up/ he was doing it wrong etc. lots of laughing with him. He clicked that it was fun quite quickly and we slipped the vest over while he was grinning. With an excited 'peepo' at the end.

You can fasten the poppers and kind of insert them feet first if that helps? I do it with babygros as DD is way too wriggly to lie there's while you fasten them up lol.

ChunkyPickle · 15/08/2012 13:30

Anita - I was about to say this - it changed my life when someone casually mentioned that you could take them off/put them on from the bottom up too!

Super handy for nappy explosions.

I used the kimono style bodies from Frugi for my little boy, which avoid any need to pull anything over the head.
Good luck - my boy is going through a hating his hair being washed phase at the moment.

When dd1 was born we were living overseas (europe) There were loads of wrapround body suits available (couldn't find over the head options), in cheap shops like carrefour.
