Fed up with grey roots, is it time to go natural?

I have been going grey since my teens and now that 40 is fast approaching I am considering stopping the dyeing. My hair seems to be falling out these days so the grey roots show more than ever. However most of the women I see with grey hair tend to be twice my age .

Does it look odd though?
I have black eyebrows and eyelashes....I don't want to look like Alastair darling!!

I had years of dark dye stripped out of my hair by the hairdresser (special deal voucher).
My natural hair is snow white, hairdresser said it was quite unusual not to have a salt and pepper grey.
I maintain the condition and whiteness using Manic Panic virgin snow toner and have received many complements from people that my new hair suits me much better and I look younger.
Am not sure if they are just being kind but I feel liberated from having to dye it all the time and love it.

I have black eyebrows too but I think if you keep them neat it looks ok, I used to lighten them if I lightened my hair but with the amount of white ones in them I wont need to soon Shock.

I'm very Envy at your snow white hair.

late to this thread .I let my hair go completely grey laty year.It was a nice colour if I was about 80 but have reverted back to colour though I havegone blondish/light brown after having dark brown.People actually treated me different and I am only 49 and people in their late 60s etc were including me in their "WE" conversations. Not ready for that

I grew mine (almost) out last year too. I'm 39 and yes, it made me feel/look about 25 years older. It doesn't help that I'm very pale - I looked almost transparent! Also, DH is 11 years younger than me and imo we looked decidedly odd and mismatched together. I did love not having to worry about roots/not putting chemicals on my head though, and the condition was amazing.
I caved in and went pale auburn in March. It's so much more flattering than the grey or the dark brown it was before. I'm far more relaxed about roots now - I used to do them every 2 or 3 weeks, they showed up so quickly on my dark hair. Now I happily go 5 or 6 weeks.
I did leave a white flash in it when I dyed it though - it looks lovely :) And one day, maybe in about 15 years, I'll grow it out again.
Oh and for the record, DH loved it grey!
