Help please! I am not huge (about 10.5 stone and 5'4") but in the last couple of years (I am 53) I have 'grown' a horrible fat midriff and stomach. Trying to diet (low carb) but the horrible stomach remains.

Has anyone defeated this or do I just have to just embrace my inner weeble? I look like an easter egg.

Depressing, isn't it? I've started the Shred (off youtube). Did 5 days, even managed to fit it in before work, not today as I woke up late and busy with the kids. Trying to eat less too.

The thing is - I really suspect we have to give up alcohol. However for me alcohol is one of only things keeping me sane.

Am going to try drinking, increasing exercise and serious micro portions.

Totally hate 50s - always the wrong temperature, fat middle, red face - takes maximum effort to stay looking OK.

Try www.caloriecounter.com - I found it invaluable for keeping track of what I ate. You put in your age, height, weight, activity levels and the weight you'd like to be and it works out a daily calorie allowance for you. You can either log all the food you eat as you go or log on once a day...I lost a stone and a bit in 3 months and better still, I've kept it off for nearly a year.

Oh and it's free!
