What do you use to zap spots?

I'm currently using Retin A gel for acne which is working a treat, but I am still getting the odd bruiser appearing, generally hormonal ones!

I am just coming to the end of a Clinique spot treatment gel and not sure whether to by more or try something else. I tried a bit of sudocreme last night :o

What do you use?

Origins spot gel is great. I can't remember the name but it's in a little green bottle. Lasts ages as well.
I also like the soap and glory gel (it always stings which to me means it's working) and the Liz Earle roller ball, although be careful on spots around the eyes as it is quite liquidy and bloody burns if it gets in your eyes!
I like to have a couple on the go so my face doesn't get used to the same one and stop working!

I used a pretty gentle cleanser and then a BHA on spots
Benzoyl peroxide is the bizzo for bad acne but I think you can't use it at the same time as retinA ( not sure tbh)
My skin cleared

I use a BHA now after cleansing and AHA and retinA (for wrinkles)
I reckon the BHA made the real difference under the surface but the AHA kept the dead skin cells off which also helped

99% Aloe vera gel works well.

Wolfiefan · 03/08/2012 14:02

Liz Earle do a rollerball thing for blemishes. Only thing I've ever used and seen the benefit of.

JemimaPuddle · 03/08/2012 15:18

Sudocrem or Deceleor Neroli balm are excellent on spots.
I've used Eve Lom Dynaspot in the past which is excellent but very expensive.

Once again I will point at the old faithful's of Rose Water on cotton wool wiped over face followed by slapping on some coconut oil, if anything angry pops up I reach for the Tee Tree oil, but honestly since getting the Rose Water I've had nothing angry just a few small red bumps that are easily covered by BB cream.

FoxPass · 03/08/2012 20:42

Perry what's BHA? Could I get that from my GP?

Coconut oil breaks me out chronic if I put it on my face. I wish I could, as it works wonders on my neck and decollete.

I have some rose water and an aloe vera plant so I will try them on the current horror on my chin. It hurts to smile! Shock

Will pay a visit to Liz Earle and Origins this weekend I think!

Freederm. I use the cleanser and the gel. I also find that upping my omega3 intake seems to really help. A couple of weeks of flaxseed each day (just 5g not the 30g the packet says) and there is a noticeable improvement.

Toothpaste

I use Glycolic Acid - 15% GA night cream from Bravura is the best, but I also have Paula's choice 10% weekly resurfacing treatment. It encourages exfoliation so speeds up the cycle. The night cream dries the blighters out, too.

xmasevebundle · 03/08/2012 21:31

I guess you never pick them i had bad skin for all my teens until i got put on tablets from a dermo to change my pores tighten the skin up on my face.

Best way is to leave than put anything on it.. Some products help prevent spots. You cant help getting spots its when you skin sweats to much and produces spots. Its your glands, warm water first to open your pored to clean it in the cold afterwards to shut them.

xmasevebundle · 03/08/2012 21:36

i would normally use natural stuff im using dermal 500 for my skin to wash it have ever since and doublebase and my skin is dry due to being pregnant :(

BustleInYourHedgerow · 03/08/2012 22:03

Quinoderm. It's BP though, not sure if you can use with retinA, but it's 6 quid and the best thing I've ever used. Quinoderm facewash is fantastic too.

PerryCombover · 04/08/2012 01:16

BHA is just salycylic acid (sp?)
I use the Neutrogena stress spot control treatment moisturiser ( called something like that) it's a BHA gel type product. V v good and pennies
I've also used the bravura BHA in the past and it was great.

I use a Philip Roth 10% glycolic acid (aha) moisturiser morning and night and it, used along with the Neutrogena, means I have about 2 spots per year
I think there are far cheaper ahas than the Roth but I have it and it's excellent

bestegg · 04/08/2012 09:34

Sudocrem takes the redness out but doesn't dry them out and it is dirt cheap.

Murraylover · 04/08/2012 10:25

Neutrogena visibly clear rapid clear treatment. It's fab
Small tube at 4quid Smile

SunWukong · 04/08/2012 15:47

Aren't BHAs linked with cancer?

Itsgottabebags · 04/08/2012 16:54
