Its my birthday soon, not a big one but Mum & Dad want to get me something special as I've had a really tough year.
I'm 32 weeks PG and not feeling great. Confidence is on the floor. I have no idea what to say, I feel like I don't want anything. I really don't want anything except my other half back and they can't do that.
I'm not really a jewellery person & I don't go
Out anywhere ever. All I can think of is something for the baby but they say that's
A cop out.
I'm a county bumpkin if that helps.

MNetters- help me with your ideas?

Gadgetry? I bought an iPod when baby arrived, I did a lot of long walks with the pram and that. An iPad, to me that's like the world's biggest glossy magazine of goodness, a real luxury present. I can think of lots of things in this vein I might not buy myself - digital radio, extra radio for the bathroom, tiny telly for kitchen?

TheSurgeonsMate · 03/08/2012 11:32

Have I ignored country bumpkin element?

I was browing the River Cottage website yesterday and saw they had these cool "instant garden vouchers" where they send you plants at the right time of year. I liked "Large Herb Garden", but there was lots of choice. Only, may not be right time of year for something like that.

TheSurgeonsMate · 03/08/2012 11:35

Bollocks, have ignored "it's in style and beauty" element.

New coat / jacket? (See pram comment above.)

I always want cool bags - not handbags, but sort of tote to briefcase to luggage sized bags - but never feel like spending the cash, would be a good gift, I think.

Pickles77 · 03/08/2012 11:37

I have my iPhone, I live with the folks for the mo so have no garden ( actually have nothing bar my dog)
Too fat for nice clothes & don't go out.
Possibly some dubarry type boots.
Thanks for your suggestions Smile

My ideas are hopeless! What about your parents, they should come up with some ideas!

Pickles77 · 03/08/2012 11:45

No there not hopeless, they aren't suggesting anything. Just demanding I think of something

Erm...

A nice big handbag for when dc's here?
A haircut at a posh salon?
A massage, facial etc?
New make up?

TheSurgeonsMate · 03/08/2012 11:47

How annoying! The reason I was on the River Cottage website was that I have big birthday coming up and people want to know what I want. I'm not too happy about it, I can tell you!

Iwannamovenow · 03/08/2012 11:49

I agree with your parents though, that you should get something for you, not the baby :)

How about a load of vouchers for your local department store?
Then you can pick things you like, at a later date.

A big box of stuff from Lush?

MarianForrester · 03/08/2012 11:52

You sound so sad Sad

Suggestion: stop worrying about being fat and devote time to finding a really cosy, waterproof, comforting long jacket. Nothing better for the spirits than a lovely, long walk with your little baby tucked up snugly in the pram. But you will need to be dry!

I had one that made me look a bit like an immersion heater Smile but I loved it.

Pickles77 · 03/08/2012 12:01

Thanks guys.
Yes very sad, the only things I want money can't buy.
I might suggest they wait until I feel a bit better

Origins Ginger things make me feel happier
Ren Damask Rose Otto things are lovely

Pickles77 · 03/08/2012 13:35

Would dubarry boots be worth it? I could do with some nice shoes. Yummy mummy comfy pram pushing in any weather types? I have a lovely brown musto cost and a gorgeous liberty tweed coat (both presents from xp- or I wouldn't have bought) so as baby is due late sept and I'm a country/horsey person shoes/boots might be good?

What about a nice bright pair of hunters, a colour that makes you smile when you put them on! Or some lovely sturdy riding boot type shoes for all weathers. Is that what a dubarry boot is? I don't know what they are Blush

Hope you're feeling a bit more yourself soon lovely and that you've got lots of support

Pickles77 · 03/08/2012 15:18

I've got my trusty hunters. But yeah the dubarrys are riding boot types Smile. Thank you

Yes, get a gorgeous pair of walking boots / wellies as it will be autumn / winter when baby arrives so you can go out for long walks, kick leaves, jump in puddles. All of these things are guaranteed to make you feel better.Smile

crazybutterflylady · 03/08/2012 15:27

I love belstaff boots, have you seen those? I am too chunky around the calf for them but I live in hope!

Pickles77 · 03/08/2012 15:33

Do you have a link please crazy?
