Please.
They are so dry! I never put on handcream during the day coz I can't find one that rubs in without leaving your hands greasy and unusable.
I'd like it to smell lush, actually moisturise and be budget friendly...any suggestions s&b gurus?

My children and DH protested when I withdrew liquid soap from our house, so I have compromised with a bar for me and these Body Shop liquid ones.

we've tried Almond and Rose, they are much less drying than conventional liquid soaps, Rose better than Almond I think.

I must also mention Lush Putty for the Hands which is great, but gets a bit messy in the soap dish (the DCs squidge it).

Hemp cream from TBS is good.

Do you wear gloves when washing up? Fairy liquid really kills my hands and nails.

I agree with the poster upthread who said foot cream is more effective than hand cream. (but I'd only use it at night as it's heavy.) In the day I like that cheapo nivea soft. It's very good.

The fact you're peeing a lot with pregnancy is probably the issue. So changing to a moisturising soap will help. As will using hand cream during the day - it's only greasy for a few minutes. I use Vaseline Intensive Rescue hand cream and it's not that greasy and works well. I also put it on before bed as a matter of course.

When dd was a baby my hands were painfully dry & cracked from washing them all the time. I agree with cocoobongoI on the oilatum soap & aveeno (tho I used the hand cream not the oil) and the other thing that really helped was using surcare washing up liquid which is perfume free & formulated for people with sensitive skin/eczema, and seemed not to strip my hands of any moisture or agrivate them like normal washing up liquids.

I don't get why anyone wouldn't wear rubber gloves to wash up? Are lots of people allergic to them?

helebear · 05/08/2012 08:24

I put rubber gloves on too if im doing a load of washing up but can't always be bothered/ don't have time if I'm just washing up a few mugs or am in the middle of cooking and need to wash something.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/08/2012 09:22

Exactly the same here, I put gloves on for big sessions of washing up but not for a few bits and bobs, I either forget or can't be bothered to get them out. When I do wear them I pop a bit of handcream on first. I'm not allergic to them, but I don't like the feel of wearing rubber gloves very much, I very rarely wear them for cleaning, same with gardening gloves, but I know I should do.

Interesting comment about the Surcare washing up liquid, we were away in a caravan last week, so handwashing up all week, there was a bottle of Surcare in the caravan and I noticed how much less drying it was than my usual Fairy.

Well I put gloves with cream on underneath if I so much as walk past the the sink, which explains why I have soft hands and a house like a squat!

Another vote for soap and glory hand food.
