Brazilian hair straightening - shall I go for it?

Have been thinking about this for a while. I was interested in a more permanent solution but after having a chat in my local salon, they told me that anything such as the yuko or wella straightening contains loads of chemicals and is really bad for your hair. As my hair is already a little dry, she thought the Brazilian would be good for the condition and take the frizz away.

Anyone had one? It would be about £120, worth the money?

I have had it done 3 times. First time it didn't work for some reason, but then I had it done elsewhere and it was amazing. You can get groupon deals that are a lot cheaper.

Can you colour your hair afterwards?

I think they suggest colouring your hair beforehand.

You can get your hair coloured before or at the same time - but not afterwards. The reason being that the colour/shampoo after colour will wash out the keratin. You have to use salt free shampoo after you've had it done. One wash with normal shampoo and you effectively remove the stuff.

I have had it done in a salon once, then used an at home kit from Amazon a couple of times. The at home kit is about £30 - but more faff to do vs sitting swigging coffee & reading magazines while someone else does the hard work. As Trixy says - look out for a deal on Groupon or Wowcher

You can also just have it blow dried it (or blow dry a kit in at home ) which gives you a similar result but less poker straight and lasts for about 8 weeks.

I would def recommend it - but do it at home first to see what you think.

Thanks.

So will I not even be able to touch up my roots after its done?
