I bought L'oreal Elvive's Extraordinary Oil the other day and it is without a doubt one of the best hair products I've ever used.

I actually bought it on my lunch hour and curiously ran a blob through my windswept unbrushed hair when I got back to my desk (just to check out the smell and texture rather than actually trying to improve the look of my hair given that I was busy eating doughnuts working at the time) - and it just seemed to instantly fall into this glossy look. I've used oils before and often found them to be a bit greasy and to weigh my hair down but this seems much lighter without losing its power/ effect iyswim?!

I've sinced used it properly and people keep asking me what I've done to my hair as its in such good condition. Grin

They have it in Tesco on offer @ £3.29 or £3.79 at the moment and the Loreal smoothing shampoo is 2 for £5 along with the conditioner.
I bought it yesterday and today have swishy shiny hair ... thanks OP Smile

wellwisher · 01/08/2012 23:02

PerryCombover · 02/08/2012 00:43

I think Elvive and Kerestase are the same thing
Just repackaged for different purses

Purpleknickers · 02/08/2012 09:24

Loreal Elvive shampoo and conditioner and the argan oil serum ..sorry for confusion

dancingmummy · 02/08/2012 09:31

I tried the liquid gold argan oil for £5, did nothing! Hmm
Probably using it wrong or something?

dancingmummy · 02/08/2012 09:33

It was tresemme thought, maybe a different formula?

catinboots · 02/08/2012 14:51

I have just switched from the Kerastase ELixir to the Loreal one on advice of my new hairdresser (who sell's Kerastase products)

She said it's exactley the same - and I can't notice a difference

Peeenut · 02/08/2012 22:28

Krumbum - You may like the Organix Coconut Milk. I have hair that sucks up all moisture but it's easy to suddenly go ott. The milk you can massage in when wet and I find it gives a nice, light, even coverage. In then use an oil / serum on the ends if they're misbehaving.

I've been using the Elvive shampoo and conditioner with the argon oil and like it. I've kept with it through a few bottles now. It's not so bad at giving my hair that wierd coating that makes it go frizzy even when it tells me it's meant to tame.

CaveJohnson · 02/08/2012 22:31

It does have silicone in it - and alcohol which I found out on a stingy little cut!

ihatethecold · 02/08/2012 23:03

I have thick long straight hair and I really like the l'oreal oil. Got it in boots for £6.
I would deffo buy again.
I have been using it on wet hair. Then blow drying Wink

GeetTallBird · 02/08/2012 23:34

Hmm reading with interest, I've used Moroccan oil for about a year now and the difference it made was amazing! Prior to this I used Avon dry ends restructuring serum & John Frieda sheer blonde spotlight glosser (obviously discontinued as are all the greatest JF products) which wasn't a patch on the M.O, however now finances are slim I will try the loreal one, thanks for the recommendation :)

PippiL · 03/08/2012 10:04

I'm halfway through a bottle of loreal mythic oil, which I love, but is v spensive. Would be interested to hear if anyone heas used both of these products and how different they are.

Would be great to find a cheaper alternative.

carrielou2007 · 03/08/2012 21:58

I found the mythic oil exactly the same as this l'oreal one no good for my hair - very very thick naturally curly/wavy hair. Sorry!!

MrsSee · 04/08/2012 09:52

I've tried the v05 oil and Amargan oil - both have silicones and did absolutely SFA for my thick curly frizzy mop. I've also tried the Organix Argan oil shampoo and conditioner, which did nothing. As a last resort (before going to the hairdresser to cut my hair short, it really was in that bad condition - well, naturally coarse hair which cant get enough msture) I bought Holland & Barrett pure Argan oil (£12.99 - no silicones) to seal the ends before styling. I only need one drop. What a difference, my porous hair drinks up the oil and for the first time this year, I have moisturised looking hair. This oil has transformed my hair completely and I was beginning to think nothing could make my long locks look half decent!

ComeonComeon · 04/08/2012 12:50

Sorry, I posted this q upthread but if anyone knows - can you use eg argan oil then straighten with ghd's? Worried I'll fry my hair Confused

Thanks ifanyone knows the answer!

yellowraincoat · 04/08/2012 12:55

Interesting, my hair is a permanent disaster. Going to have a look at this.

yellowraincoat · 04/08/2012 12:57

It's on offer in boots for the ominous price of £6.66 atm.

TheHouseofMirth · 04/08/2012 13:11

I've got really crappy dry but very fine hair. Will it weigh it down and make it lank?

FrankelSaysRelax · 04/08/2012 13:16

I have very greasy hair - needs washing on a daily basis. Can I try oil treatments or should I avoid like the plague?

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/08/2012 17:29

I'm a bit pissed off that it's so cheap in UK - it's 15 euros here in France, and L'Oreal is a French company!

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 04/08/2012 17:37

Dove nourishing hair therapy express treatment conditioner with argen oils is brilliant too.
I have permed and coloured hair and it conditions it a treat.
I dont usually like Dove but this was on offer so I gave it a go.
It's grand.
So will put OU of my mind their Heidi's adverts and faux concern about 'real women' out of my head for now

carrielou2007 · 04/08/2012 17:44

Yes you can GHD'D your hair I wouldn't 't leave stage house otherwise as I'd look like I'd plugged my finger on an electric socket after drying otherwise!! I was everonr's 'hair envy' at 15 when everyone was back combing like mad to get big hair, ideas trying to flatten if!!!

carrielou2007 · 04/08/2012 17:45

If that makes sense, combination of eye op can only see out of obs eye and can't see what blasted auto spell is spelling Blush

DillyTante · 04/08/2012 17:58

Can anyone who has used any of these products confirm if they have fine hair prone to greasiness? And was it ok?

StealthPolarBear · 04/08/2012 18:03

I find myself drawn to this thread...going to try this, thanks
