jodieharsh What facial skin type would you say you had, if you don't mind my asking? Would like to give the coconut oil a try, but I do have oily skin. I know it's not always bad to use oil though, as long as it's non-comodegenic (is that right? non-pore blocking!).

cybbo · 27/07/2012 11:39

Stupid question Jodie....but does it smell of coconut?

ggirl · 27/07/2012 11:39

my hair is getting greasier as well

I need a scalp equivalent to the glycolic acid

cybbo · 27/07/2012 11:41

Ah, hair okay here. Just HUGE pores, I mean ridiculous. Hormonal I reckon

Lisa Eldridge costs me a blody fortune. ATM I'm loving the lancome miracle eclat on her recomendation, great as a primer or highlighter and not glittery just glowy.

ggirl · 27/07/2012 11:44

cyb -you need to dip those pores into a some salicylic acid

JodieHarsh · 27/07/2012 11:44

Naboo my skin type is mostly CROSS. It reacts to everything, including happening to touch my face etc. etc. And it scars easily, which is a shame as I love nothing more than hacking away at a dormant spot with none-too-clean fingernails. Oil cleansing has been the only thing to calm it down.

I had read that it's NOT non-comodogenic but I've not noticed it being any different from what I was using before (sweet almond oil and a touch of castor oil, which is what is generally recommended).

Cybbo not a stupid question...I didn't know whether it would when I bought it! Yes, it does - very gently. It doesn't smell of 'coconut scented body lotion', but actually OF coconut, if you see what I mean. Yum!

Nabootique · 27/07/2012 11:47

jodie Thanks! I have many an acne scar. I did use Bio Oil, which I found quite helpful, but my already oily skin seems to have gotten even oilier since birth of DD, and the Bio Oil wasn't helping that.

JodieHarsh · 27/07/2012 11:50

Naboo I do recommend giving oil cleansing a go. Bio oil is very definitely more oily than oil Confused

also - the everything surrounding oil cleansing is so helpful to those with very sensitive skin. Because you remove the oil with a hot cloth/gentle rubbing, you don't need an exfoliant (which is good, because if I so much as look at an exfoliator I get white bumps all over my cheekbones). And you don't need a moisturiser, because the cleansing process moisturises in itself. You can dab a wee bit of oil on your skin before bedtime if you're feeling super dry, but it's not necessary.

CountBapula · 27/07/2012 14:02

Ooh, ovenchips, hope it work for you! The mask from the same range is also ace. It was that Lisa Eldridge that recommended it in her French pharmacie video.

Another fab brand I've discovered recently is Butter London nail polish. Goes on beautifully and the colours are ace. I'm wearing Yummy Mummy today. Silly name, but it's a fab sophisticated taupey-mauve.

CountBapula · 27/07/2012 14:04

Eliza I love the Clemence video. Report back on the blusher - I was thinking of getting that!

cybbo · 27/07/2012 16:19

Gg does it work? Is that what you did rather than glycolic?

OP posts:
cybbo · 27/07/2012 16:40

Just ordered Sal acid

Baaaaaaa

OP posts:
ggirl · 27/07/2012 17:07

i was under the impression that sali acid was more hardcore than gly acid..for controlling oil slicks
did you order from bravura or wahtever it's called

ggirl · 27/07/2012 17:08

i use Glycolic
hope yer face doesn't fall off

JodieHarsh · 27/07/2012 17:19

Isn't salicylic acid just aspirin?

I did a crushed apirin face mask a while back and it were ace.

I had a pounding headache the next day and couldn't find any bastard painkillers.

KatieisScarlettinSpandex · 27/07/2012 17:23

Oil Based Cleansing

madmomma · 27/07/2012 21:39

Oh I have irresponsibly spunked zillions recently Blush
dull, but I'm only just on the MAC p+p bandwagon. Loving that.
fabulous long lasting lipstick from EL called doublewear 'stay blush'
Mac's felt tip brow pen, bronzer (mineralize skinfinish in 'natural) and a very gorgeous pomegranet soap from crabtree & evelyn

lizbee156 · 28/07/2012 18:13

Stupid question alert....

Where can I buy coconut oil?
What is oil cleansing?
I read MNers talking about it a lot but I have no idea.

LurkeyLurkerson · 28/07/2012 19:33

I want to know too ^^

HollyBollyBooBoo · 28/07/2012 19:38

Been talked about a lot on MN but I've only just bought one - Soap and Glory foot file, it's asthough it melts hard skin away, can't get over the results.

NigellasGuest · 28/07/2012 19:54

Benefit They're Real is the best mascara for me, ever. Highly recommend it if you want to lengthen as opposed to getting cloggy and clumpy.

Emma Hardie cleansing balm is the best thing since sliced bread, as far as I'm concerned.

alpha-H liquid Gold - brilliant - has the acid of which you speak!

cocolepew · 28/07/2012 20:05

Huh. Ive never watch Lisa before, I looked at grown up girlie video. I use that eye palette (and glittery liner), I am pale but have dark hair and brown eyes and it works well on my colouring.

Definitely botox.

ElizaDoMore · 28/07/2012 20:15

CountBapula, Get the blusher! It's gorgeous! Wink

CountBapula · 28/07/2012 20:23

Ooh, fab! Will definitely try it next time I'm near a Clarins counter.
