Vita liberates phenomenal self tan

Im thinking of trying this one.
Is it good?
Easy to apply?
How long did it last?
Also most self tan smells horrid or too perfumed for me so whats the smell like. I can see its really expensive for only a little product so do you think it's worth the extra money? Thanks

Grin Try the light one it is like you but younger!

cybbo · 27/07/2012 09:55

Actually I discovered a can of Sally Hanson in the bathroom last night and popped that on my pins before going out. Looked great

Have to clean the bathroom now though, as that has been Sally hansoned too

GetOrfMoiIand · 27/07/2012 09:57

I have given up on it as well, I am very pale and always look ridiculous with fake tan.

This seems interesting though.

noddyholder · 27/07/2012 09:58

I am pale which i like in winter but VL is very light so maybe worth a go.

GetOrfMoiIand · 27/07/2012 10:02

I may well give it a go - if it turns out to be hideous I am sure DD will nick it (she will probably nick it anyway).

£40 is a bit steep for fake tan though.

noddyholder · 27/07/2012 10:03

It is reduced in boots!

NotMostPeople · 27/07/2012 10:19

Pale ones honestly try it I'm a natural shade of blue/white and it works brilliantly for me. I've got the medium.

flowwithit · 27/07/2012 10:27

Just out of interest wash off might be good in this country for those days when sun suddenly surprises us and you want to wear dress but legs and arms need some colour.
Does it come off on clothes?
Does it stay on if it's hot or melt off like make up?
Which one to get?
Do you use a mitt to put it on?
Got the vita tan in medium cant wait to try it but think I need leg wax first! Bought veet wax strips too but can't face using them. Ouch!

garnier self tan body lotion is so much easier than full blown fake tan stuff

i always end up streaked and blotchy around my ankles with fake tan no matter how careful I am

BarbaraWoodlouseAspiringHooker · 27/07/2012 10:38

Was really tempted (another Mumsnet-related purchase) but then got to the £40 bit Shock

How much is it in Boots? [too lazy busy at work to google]

Onthebottomwithawomansweekly · 27/07/2012 10:45

Got a pressie of the Vita one but wasn't hugely impressed, it took 3-4 applications to get a visible result (and my natural colour is pale blue Celtic skin so fake tan usually shows immediately!)

Plus after a couple of hours I did get the digestive biccie smell.

I am at present using an Aldi fake tan, it's a completely clear gel rather than a lotion, it develops a bit of colour (but not too intense so I don't go orange overnight) and smells v nice going on. Haven't noticed a biscuit smell at all. Plus it's only about £3!

I also like the GarnierAmber Solaire dry spray one cos it drys so quick, but it develops a bit too deep if I'm not careful to give it a quick spread with the mitt after applying.

flowwithit · 27/07/2012 10:47

It's still about £37 in boots but I ordered it from debenhams with points card for £33 and got a few points. It is very expensive but I'm hoping it's worth it as I could have bought some nice summer shoes for that price!
Garnier and other lotions are ok ish but they make me look yellow.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 27/07/2012 12:18

I go yellow with the daily lotions as well; DD kept asking me to stop using it on holiday a couple of years ago!

Have had Fake Bake for 'fair maidens' on since Wednesday night.
Went on smoothly but a bit too dark, then washed off to a perfect (on me) light pinky brown. It's faded a bit, but evenly so I'll do another coat tonight.

As someone else said, if you have to re-apply the Vita after 3 days that's no different from anything else surely?

Eliza22 · 27/07/2012 13:22

It was me that said that, and I still think, it's not offering anything "new".

When I first heard about it I thought "great. One application. 2-3 weeks "wear"". But really, that's not what it is.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 27/07/2012 13:54

The 'new' thing, imo, is the lack of toxic stuff - assuming that claim is true - and the fact that they're not tested on animals.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 27/07/2012 13:56

Oh, FakeBake claim the same thing - not so new then Hmm.

noddyholder · 27/07/2012 18:23

The way it wears off is definitely better I hate the patchy look after about a week that I usually get. This fades like a tan

flowwithit · 27/07/2012 20:01

Yes noddy that's how st tropez wears on me then I look like I have a skin problem. Hopefully this will be less drying too. Will post when I've tried it.

Sleepwhenidie · 28/07/2012 15:25

I have to apologise...I have just been looking at the website and the mousse I used wasn't the phenomenal one, but the "normal" tinted version. So it makes no claims of being longer lasting and a week would be about right for it to last.

It says with the phenomenal one to reapply up to 3 times, an hour apart each time for it to last 3 weeks....
