Magical way to apply blusher

Have just commented on the magical way to apply eyeliner on lower lashes. Made me think someone on here might be able to advise me on how to apply blusher.

Eyeliner nailed, watching blusher tips with interest. If anyone has the perfect foundation for combination skin while they're at it that would be super

brighthair · 25/07/2012 23:58

I use a powder, smile, dot on my sticky out cheek bits and blend up

Devora · 26/07/2012 00:07

What brighthair said. Cream blush generally easier and better result than powder.

FunnyLittleFrog · 26/07/2012 08:21

My mum uses lipstick on cheeks, says it's as good as creme blush. Is it?

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 26/07/2012 08:24

I use Mac cream blusher. It is amazing. It knocks years off me. I dot on the apples and blend.

Passmethecrisps · 26/07/2012 08:25

I never used blusher until I bought a cream one for using on my wedding day - it is now part of normal make-up. I smile then dot along the apples. Still smiling I blend in circular motion along under my eyes then down slightly. This gives my face a sort of healthy glow rather than looking like blusher.

The one I use is from Clinique.

yes MAC cream blush is brilliant isn't it? it lasts much better than most, though I think it is quite sticky to apply.

sometimes I prefer powder though and I think that the trick with this is to use a good brush that isn't too big (you don't want to get it too far down cheeks or too close to nose), go lightly and just fluff it on so you don't get distinct patches. Then blend like mad with a big blending brush. Also don't apply in a stripe, awful, it must be centred on the outer parts of the apples.

final thought, avoid blush with lots of shimmer or any glitter. if you really must sparkle then you can always use a separate product

Devora · 27/07/2012 00:19

FunnyLittleFrog, yes I think your mum is probably right.

A cream blusher is best to start with IMHO. put on your base then smile like a maniac and apply the cream blusher to the fattest part of your cheeks, clinique do some lovely ones. Blend it like mad then apply loose powder and THEN powder blusher or bronzer. Again concentrate on the apples of your cheeks and blend into your hairline. If it looks too much, pat loose powder over the top and use a big blending brush to remove the excess.

Lipstick gave me dreadful acne - it is very waxy.

Put powder on before your blusher - it sits better on your foundation and doesn't just 'stick' whey you first apply.

Smile and apply in circular motions with a brush with a tiny amount of blusher on it, you can repeat as necessary. Best to use your own flushed - post coital colour!!

Where is the magical eyeliner thread - linky please!

I use BB cheek/lip tint and apply using a kabuki brush, which blends brilliantly.

chutneypig · 27/07/2012 06:28

How do people blend, is it different for cream versus powder? Yes, total novice!

Scootergrrrl · 27/07/2012 06:29

Oh yes, link to the magic eyeliner thread please!

FunnyLittleFrog - lipstick and creme blush are exactly the same formulation, so your mum is right! Obviously it depends on the type of lipstick - if it is matt/creamy/glossy, some may look better or worse.

I love Bobbi Brown blushers - they have a great pigment - both creme and powder.

But my all time favourite has to be Benetint - so natural and you can build it up gradually.
