What do you do to perk yourself up if you are feeling unattractive?

I have let myself 'go' a bit recently and I need to sort it.

Now I know that this won't be an overnight miracle cure, but I have a day off with DP tomorrow and I know I won't fully enjoy it if I am just not feeling / looking my best.

Are there any (quick fix) tips for making me feel / look a bit better while I am out tomorrow while the road to longer term fitness etc begins? (I realise they will have to be PDQ - sorry for short timescale!)

I just feel lethargic, face looks a bit puffy/ dull, feel flabby etc...

Sorry to be so 'woe is me' but if you have any fail safe things you do as a quick 'pick me up' I'd love to hear them.

Also tips on what to wear tomorrow (lunch and shopping browsing) to feel at least a bit stylish?

Just tried the roaring lion face exercise which felt great ....until dh told me I looked like something from The Exorcist! I also feel like you OP and feel that the years are starting to catch up, can't say I like it tbh. Sad

I honestly don't bother trying if I feel like that. I would drink a large glass of wine and eat some cake and wait for a day when you feel energised. I usually find the first sunny day after a run of cold/wet weather makes me want to shave my legs, do my bikini line, get the Dove summer glow and the nail varnish out.

Shower and wash hair
Fake tan
Style hair nicely
Wear earrings
Bit of make-up
Think happy thoughts :)

A professional wash and blow dry at the hairdresser. It perks you up like nothing else.

I second a glass of Prosecco or champagne to chase away the mean reds. My 90 year old neighbour swears it's the secret of her longevity and happy disposition. Grin

Just to report back and say thank you to all who offered tips - all v helpful :)

I did a manicure, also a wash and blow dry with my Babylis 'big hair' - so my hair (bless it) at least looked good.

Spent more time/effort than usual on make-up, and wore dark coloured leggings and a (hopefully) forgiving tunic top with sunglasses, a nice handbag and bracelet and earrings. I enjoyed the day - can't comment on what I looked like, but I did feel slightly less down in the dumps, so thanks again.

Oh, and patent red wedge sandals with toe nails nicely painted - there must be something about this combination, it made me feel more 'together' instantly, so important to mention I felt!

Hurrah! The sandals sound particularly cheering :)

yay! I think it's the combo of heels and pedicured toes that makes you feel instantly more put together.

Glad you had a good time.
