Advice on ingredients and recommendations for green / chemical free products?

I've finally used up my old skincare and am now trying to go more green and nasty-chemical free with my beauty products and makeup. Has anyone got a link (or can tell me) what ingredients I should be avoiding?

Also has anyone got any recommendations for effective products?

Effective and natural? Try L-Ascorbic acid crystals/ powder dissolved in hot water as a facial serum. I have NEVER found a more effective/ less expensive product.

Solgar do a fab one. Many of the others are Ascorbic rather than L-ascorbic. It is not nearly as effective.

Thank you MissFoodie.
Has anyone got any specific brand recommendations? I went to John Lewis today and was rather overwhelmed by the brands (and the sales reps). I browsed Origins, Liz Earl, Dr Hausche (sp?), Aveda, Neals Yard (already tried Frankinsence range but it didn't suit me), then headed to Holland and Barrett and looked at all the ranges there. My brain is befuddled with reading ingredients (in small print without my glasses Blush ), trying to remember what I should avoid, and I came away with nothing.

there is no one brand that does everything amazingly, it all depends on your skin, time of year, what you like, budget, etc

I would start with sample sizes, Green People are good for that, you can buy online direct from them, their cream cleanser is one of the best I've ever used and great value as it's a 200ml bottle.

Also, Neals Yard are good at giving samples in little pots, but you need go into one of their shops, not a concession.

I'd start with these two as they are mid price range, and take it from there.

I don't rate Holland and Barrett, sorry, Planet Organic and Whole Foods have the best selection of brands.

Good luck!
