And its not a good look. So any exercises I can do to get rid or is surgery the only answer?

me too. matches my crepey cleavage. am now reduced to wearing tops back to front.

scarves are the way forward i feel.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/07/2012 21:50

Oh god - its because I've lost a little weight it looks bloody worse.

Ageing is vastly over-rated in my opinion. Slaps more oil on crepey body.

I had such a shock the first time I noticed this - I was sitting in the back of a friends car, behind the driver and caught sight of my neck in the rear view mirror. I was appalled!

I've also got really deep lines above top lip. :-* I look at other people's mouths and no one has such a cat's bum mouth as me, even heavy smokers who are older than me Sad

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/07/2012 22:07

I've only just noticed mine Skiving and granted I do tend to obsess in an alarmingly shallow way about my body.

I will now be examining every other woman's neck I encounter.

Surely there's some simple procedure where they can remove the little bit of excess skin, god I could practically do it myself Wink

And do you know armpits age too? And knees.

Thank the lord for Richard Fish Grin

baskingseals · 19/07/2012 22:07

didn't somebody say that at some point you have to choose between your face and your figure.

sadly i appear to have chosen neither.

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/07/2012 22:10

Am sorting fact to some extent with botox [told you I was shallow] and am low carbing to sort body but there's always something that slips through the net and its my bloody neck. Its my mother's neck I realised earlier but on my body.

So scarves are big for AutumnWinter and I too will just wear all my plunging necklines back to front Wink

i've definitely got my mother's knees.

And lets not get started on facial hair.

OP posts:
SkivingAgain · 19/07/2012 22:29

I don't have problem facial hair, but every now and then I find a really long hair growing from under my wattle chin. It seems to appear from nowhere. Have a similar one that grows from edge of top lip - one day nothing, next day an inch long hair!! Confused

Mrs CB, after losing weight I felt the same as you re neck, actually got a referral to a surgeon but the appointment was £250 so held off booking it.

At the same time in a routine skin cancer check at the (private) dermotologist, he mentioned (in response to my despairing cry 'what about this neck, these jowls, arrrgh?) that their workload for 'RF' was ramping up like mad and they were having great results. RF is 'radio frequency' treatment, like Thermage but (a) cheaper and (b) safer and (c) apparently much more effective. It's £500 for 3 sessions. I've had two sessions so far. No effect after first session (felt a bit dismayed). HUGE improvement following second session. Less jowly, turkey effect on next decreased by 80%. Amazed and relieved at improvement.

The treatment doesn't hurt but feels a bit odd - the nurse firmly massages a thingy like an ultrasound thing onto lower face and neck for ages. So relieved I found this instead of spending £££ on surgery (which I found daunting and scary). So would recommend, for £500 it's very good results for money spent for me, although I realise other people might not feel the same way.

MrsCampbellBlack · 20/07/2012 09:38

Oh Claudia will have to look into that. Will ask about it next time I go for botox - thanks.

bigbuttons · 20/07/2012 09:46

There ARE exercises you can do that really help but you've got to stick at them. Believe it or not brushing the skin with a soft nailbrush and pinching, tugging the skin stimulates it and helps it to firm up, I know this goes against popular theory but it DOES work.

ClaudiaCutie · 20/07/2012 11:53

Bigbuttons, I agree! Anything that gets the skin to make more new cells and produce more new collagen will definitely help! Mrs CB, ask if your botox practitioner to put a few little touches of botox along the jawline. This helped me a little bit too. Sort of defines the jaw a bit more, and relaxes the 'pulling down' muscles in the neck (sorry forgotten the name for those muscles). Admittedly only last 12 weeks but a low risk tweak and the exercise idea is a good one too. Anything that firms/tightens ...

RoxyRobin · 20/07/2012 12:38

I hate the lines round the mouth worse than the saggy jowls.

I didn't know why mine were so bad as I've never smoked, but have come to the conclusion it's all down to DH. Thirty-odd years of pursing my lips daily at his irritating behaviour has left me with the classic cat's bum.

Wish I'd responded with Mona-Lisa inscrutability now. Perhaps she was worried about getting a cat's bum mouth, too.

OneHandFlapping · 20/07/2012 14:59

Honestly, this could take over from my habit of stroking my chin and feeling for whiskers .

OneHandFlapping · 20/07/2012 14:59

Bugger! Strikeout fail too.
