Comfy heels? Do they exist?

nobodysfool · 14/07/2012 21:47

I would love to wear heels more during the day but walk a lot so end buying flats etc.
When I go out for the evening I like to wear heels and would love to find some that dont leave my feet screaming at the end of the night.
My dream heels are nude colour and maybe Mary Jane style as I seem to be able to wear them for longer.
Does such a thing exist?

Clarks! Very comfy padded soles and some seasons they have nice trendy ones...

Hassled · 14/07/2012 22:01

Schuh stock some nice Hush Puppies - low heels, a Mary Jane look - here

mrsconfuseddotcom · 14/07/2012 22:02

Ooh yes, Clarks are great!

Get a style with a strap and they won't slip off. Have Mary Janes in stock the last time I looked and they have a sale at the moment too.

Scarredbutnotbroken · 14/07/2012 22:05

Not cheap but I bought some lk Bennett high heels for a wedding and my god what a difference in comfort!

MoonlightandRoses · 14/07/2012 22:06

The trick is to make sure the internal padding that will be under the ball of the foot is sufficient - once it is, then six inchers are not a problem. I used to happily walk the mile and a half to work in 3" - 4" heels.

It does change your balance though and you may need to adjust to that first (so tuck your bum more underneath you and stand slightly more upright) before really getting comfortable.

Don't know what your budget is but Dune, Aldo, Bertie and Pied a Terre tend to do v.comfortable heels.

thenightsky · 14/07/2012 22:08

OP, I'm after the very same thing - nude heels, mary-jane style, comfy. I search Nottingham last weekend. Nothing.

MoonlightandRoses · 14/07/2012 22:59

Would any of these do?

Carvela
low court shoe though, not MJ
Dune classic MJ
Dotty P's
low heel MJ and a bit of a bargain
Pied a Terre (another good label for 'padding')

PerryCombover · 14/07/2012 23:02

I think heels are death. I. Still die but have given up on the idea that some are comfortable

MoonlightandRoses · 14/07/2012 23:03

Perry - you just haven't found the right ones yet!

OneLieIn · 14/07/2012 23:04

I have a fabulous pair of v high nude patent ones that are LOVELY and COMFORTABLE. They are from Matalan, £16 or so. Try them, they are amazing!

yellowraincoat · 14/07/2012 23:05

Moonlight, NONE of those look even vaguely comfy!

OP I have these and they are SO comfy. And SEXY.

thenightsky · 14/07/2012 23:09

yellow those are neither nude nor mary-jane Grin

brighthair · 14/07/2012 23:11

Not Mary Janes but I have just bought these in nude to collect tomorrow - after refreshing the site every day until they were in stock Grin and the reviews are good

the point is, comfort can NEVER be had in narrow heels, no matter the padding - it's te unsteadiness and twisting your feet on uneven pavements. I walk everywhere and as much as I want to wear heels sometimes, it's impossible - they aer also death to your lower back es[ecially if you tend to carry stuff and walk a lot. The only option is a square or stacked heel but it's hard to find prettiness wi it last few seasons - Russell and Bromley used to do great sandals with stacked heel but none now, and Prada sport did fab leather loafers on med heel, but not anymore. So even the higher end is hopeless. Clarks is good if you aer ucky to find the right style - which they do sometimes.

yellowraincoat · 14/07/2012 23:16

I know they're not.

The OP didn't say they HAVE to be nude Mary Jane. She said those were her dream shoe. I was aiming more for the comfort angle as those are the only comfy heels I've ever owned.

thenightsky · 14/07/2012 23:18

yellow they are bloody gorgeous to be fair Grin

likeatonneofbricks · 14/07/2012 23:18

*sorry for some missing letters! (lucky, not 'ucky'! and so on)

yellowraincoat · 14/07/2012 23:21

I have them in blue AND red.

sharklet · 14/07/2012 23:21

I always am very comfy in wood or cork wedges. Also clarks do have some lovely comfy padded ones.

MoonlightandRoses · 14/07/2012 23:23

But they are comfy, honest! - well, the Dune ones should be - I have a v.similar pair from them from a few seasons ago. I do like the ones you've linked to too though yellow.

likea - I'm afraid I'm saying the same to you as I did to Perry - I don't do wide heels and yet have never had back, sore feet or posture problems. (Well, ok, sore feet occasionally, but only by the end of a long evening after wearing from the morning.)

lambinapram · 14/07/2012 23:24

Another one for Clarks. I walk miles in these every day as they are so comfy...

yellowraincoat · 14/07/2012 23:26

Maybe I have delicate feet or something, but anything patent is going to rub and give me blisters. Anything with a thin heel is hard for me to walk in, although I wear them I get a sore back.

My friend swears that Kurt Geiger shoes are like heaven to walk in, not painful at all.

Charliefox · 15/07/2012 08:52

I second the view that LKBennett heels are extremely comfy.

likeatonneofbricks · 15/07/2012 12:34

Moonlight well you are lucky then - maybe it's worse for taller women (not sure whether you are tall, if you aer then you have unusually 'right' posture). Petite slight women always look so much more comfy in heels, really there is less weight to carry and smaller spine to support!
lambinapram - they look quite good and aer steady for daily shoes! the only question is - the toe looks a bit squashed/pinched - is the leather soft or very stiff around the toe? as that's my oter problem - I can't have much pressure on toes (nails problematic).

kerstina · 15/07/2012 14:15

I am petite and love to have a bit of height. I walk miles daily I find the only footwear that are not flats that are comfy are Fly wedges. Got to hear about them from mumsnet. Best prices on Javari and Amazon.
