Where can dh get an interview suit?

Dh has just found out he has an interview next week! Shock
He doesn't have a suit at all. He normally wears suit type trousers (but machine washable) and a shirt but no tie. This is the norm in current office as he isn't customer facing. But for an interview it'll need to be a suit.

Where to look?
He hasn't interviewed for a job since Uni and hasn't worn a suit since we got married!

Marks and Spencer?

Trills · 12/07/2012 12:42

Plenty of choice, you can filter by price

Whenisitmysleepytime · 12/07/2012 12:56

thats what i thought but dh has an irrational fear of blue harbour and turning into his dad! (much like my fear of per una)
are m&s mens suits alright then? Confused

House of Fraser has some nice suits on sale. My DP had to buy one for a family wedding a couple of weeks ago and found the sales staff extremely helpful. He never wears a suit and had no idea where to start, but they kitted him out beautifully and he made us all proud!

The suits are perfectly sensible, and he could get a nicer slim-fit one if he wants it to be not too Dad-like.

If he's silly about Dad-brands he could go to Burton (not sure if that link will work)

thanks trills and blue! :)

any ideas on what cut would suit a average height, short legged dh with a large ish/ broad chest? (and a slight tummy)

shopping needs to be done asap as its on wednesday!

He really needs to go into the shop so he can try them on.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 12/07/2012 13:21

i know - but sometimes shopping with dh is painful. and i know i'm going to be needed for a second opinion, which will mean bringing the dc too.

This is why he needs to go somewhere with staff who can help - people who work with suits all the time can pick a suit to flatter (almost!) any shape. M&S may well have helpful staff too but my DP also fears the Curse of Blue Harbour and wouldn't go anywhere near them!
Can he get to the shops in the next couple of days? Remind him that getting the length of the trousers right will depend on which shoe (fashion singular) he is wearing, so he needs to take the shoes in question with him.

Chubfuddler · 12/07/2012 13:26

Not double breasted if he's broad and not that tall.

Mycatcoco · 12/07/2012 13:31

Do you know you can rent suits from places such as Moss Bros? I did this for my DS's university interview.....I knew he would never wear it again.

Mataland do some very goog cheap men's suits,I bought one recently & love it.
