Where do you shop for clothes for your dds? She wants some everyday stuff. She's got jeans but needs tops/leggings/skirts etc. Quite like Zara but where else can I look for her?

Difficult age - a lot of stuff is either too grown up or too babyish. New Look have a good range of low cost every day clothes for "pre-teens"

MarianForrester · 11/07/2012 16:12

I agree with New Look, as long as you steer past the lady of the night wear Grin

I have also got my tall and skinny dd a couple of things from River Island and asos- both do small sizes online.

HandMadeTail · 11/07/2012 16:18

Depends on her size. My 11yo DD doesn't fit always fit into "girls" clothes, anymore, which can be tricky, as adult clothes are often lower cut, or the sleeves are too long or whatever.

I am going to try New Look, as some have suggested.

DD1 is 13yo, and wears a lot of clothes from the EDC youth range from Esprit.

Dancergirl · 11/07/2012 16:23

She does still fit into girls' sizes, an 11-12 fits her. She's bang on the 50th centile for both height and weight.

Will try New Look.

DD is a large 10 year old. She mostly dresses in H&M for jeans and leggings and Uniqulo for tops. Their very small sizes fit and they have the edge of being a bit trendy, cheap and not predominantly pink.

doglover · 11/07/2012 17:46

Hollister ................... if you dare!!!

Bonsoir · 11/07/2012 17:48

Benetton
Gap
Monsoon
H&M

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 11/07/2012 17:48

John Lewis. There's a range called Lost and Found that she likes. It's decent quality, reasonably priced and not too grown up, so I like it too.

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 11/07/2012 17:49

She also likes Johnnie B from Boden. Which is a shame from a £££ angle . But I have just bought some stuff in the sale for next summer.

workshy · 11/07/2012 17:50

new look is very long and narrow -my DD fits into age 11 Next but the same size in New Look looks like it has been sprayed on and made her think she was fat :(

DD gets clothes from H&M, Tammy, TopShop and Next but don't discout the supermarkets, especially the petite ranges

Guadalupe · 11/07/2012 17:52

Hennes for leggings and things. Sometimes Next has nice t-shirts, occasionally M&S, John Lewis and even Boden though only in the sale.

DontEatTheVolesKids · 11/07/2012 18:08

Next, Primark, she seems happy in there.

mysteryfairy · 11/07/2012 19:14

DD is ten.
Boden for slim fit jeans, doesn't like their other stuff.
Hoodies and t shirts from hollister, jack wills, Abercrombie
Few bits from Zara and gap

She is on 95th centile for height but doesn't seem anywhere like growing out of children's ranges, size wise. I'm always bemused who these pre-teens are that need to shop from adult sections as DD seems to dwarf her friends yet we are still pulling the elastic right in on the sides of age 11-12 jeans. Still have 13-14 to go in most ranges too!

seb1 · 11/07/2012 19:45

I have got some things out of Kylie

cocolepew · 11/07/2012 19:45

Asda.

HandMadeTail · 11/07/2012 19:50

Yeah, well, mystery fairy, I'm always bemused about people who are dismissive of my difficulties in dressing my DD appropriately, but hey ho. Hmm

Northernlurker · 11/07/2012 19:59

Dd2 is 11. She has some nice t-shirts from new look - striped and spotted. She also has a fair few plain tops from Gap ladies section. If you buy an XS they fit very nicely and they do lots of crew necks and similar that look lovely. The sale is on at the moment - I got her a lovely top in there last week for £2.79. She also has a fair bit of Boden - lots from Ebay. She likes to go in to town with her 14 year old sister and have a root around. She came home the other week with a beautiful skirt from the Oasis sale, lined cotton, perfectly sweet print and she's also just bought a very plain and comfy hoody from Republic.
I think it's a lovely age for clothes actually.

wordfactory · 12/07/2012 07:25

DD is almost 13 but very petite.

She wears aged 10-11 in H&M and New Look. The leggings are better in the former.

She also buys size 4s and 6s in Top Shop. She ordered these at the weekend www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=5808030&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=208528&parent_categoryId=203984&pageSize=20&refinements=Size{1}~[6]&noOfRefinements=1 Shock

Dancergirl · 12/07/2012 15:02

Hmmm, I've got to love dd Smile

She did a lot of eye-rolling when I suggested Hollister/Abercrombie. She said the only difference between their hoodies was the name emblazoned across the front.

We're going shopping at the weekend, will try H and M and New Look. Maybe M and S.

11 yo dd's favourite outfit atm is skinny jeans with converse and a sort of light blue baggy long sleeved top that's a size 8 (so nice and loose) from New Look adult bit. She pounces on hand-me-downs from dd1, and has just come into possesion of a fair few pretty flowery dresses from h&m and long cardis, which look very nice, and she wears with tights and plimmies.

I haven't bought her much in a while, but she sometimes likes NL, some of Johnnie B, but suddenly turns nose up at anything too little-girl (Fat Face, Boden, JL etc).

Lots of cheap leggings frm H&M, plus denim shorts, as well. Doesn't like Hollister, Superdry etc but has a JW hoody that's a good standby and doesn't really care that no-one wears JW any more!
