Serena Williams after two kids and a fair bit of cake. That's my figure, HOW do I dress it ?!

I used to be a fairly solid but athletic hourglass, a la Serena. I still have a waist sort of and the big butt-like-a-shelf but with a wobbly tum and hefty arms that have lost their tone, everything I wear looks crap.

I have NO idea how to dress for my shape. Everything in the shops seems to be aimed at those without curves (especially arses) and if I can get jeans over my thighs, they then gape hugely on the small of my back.

I'm a 14-16 (I think) and losing weight slowly and steadily.

All I wear is those shapeless long t-shirts over leggings as everything else feels so uncomfortable. I just want to dress casually without resorting to hiding all my curves in the sartorial equivalent of bin bags.

Any way you want.... Serena looks amazing. A real power house and a lovely change from waif-types IMO.

that's the thing though Eliza, I'd love to dress any way I want. it's not that I'm lacking in confidence (I love my big bee-hind Grin ) it's just that no clothes range seem to be cut for me. Not even Gap Curvy Shock

All the style advice for hourglass figures is very 'dressy' - pencil skirts and prom dresses. All very well, but a satin hobble skirt is no good for running after a 3yo in.

I tend to wear just above or on the knee skirts and vest style tops with 3 quarter length sleeved cardies, at this time of year.

I hate jeans but do wear cropped Capri style trousers. Phase 8 did a big selection last year with again, tops and lightweight cardies. For me, leggings of any type are right out, except for the gym.

I love wrap type dresses .... Got a couple of Boden ones and Kew. They don't need to be dressed up and can wear now and in winter, with opaque tights and boots.

But then, I'm NOT running around after young kids.....mine's 11years old!

Hope someone more helpful comes along soon!

I'm a 14 vaguely hourglass. I gave up on jeans years ago as I just couldn't find any to fit me properly. I wouldn't be seen dead in leggings.

My staple look is

Spring/Summer = dress (50's style/tea dress) with cardi and ballet pumps.

Autumn/Winter = Same dresses + tights + biker boots.

Agree with Eliza btw. Serena is a GODDESS!

Bunny.... Our wardrobes have much in common.

And I'd never ever be seen anywhere other than the gym in my "sport" wear!

I think that store buyers are missing a trick - just because current fashions do not suit hourglass figures, does not mean that there is not a market for us. I have a very large arse and breasts so anything without a defined waist makes me look enormous.

Could you channel a Kirsty also type look?

Anyone seen Mad Men? Joan? Beautiful. And my dh agrees!
