How long to evaluate a new skincare regime?

Hi

I have rosacea which I cannot manage very well and antibiotics don't seem to touch. I don't have a proper routine so decided to buy a trial pack of Dermologica (because I once had one of their facials and the lady said I could have lovely skin ...) - the ultra calming range.

I have been using it twice a day since Friday. I have to say, my skin doesn't feel as nice as I think it should for the price of the products.

How long do I give it? (OK, I know as long as the products last but ...) Should I be seeing an improvement yet?

(By the way, I know it won't necessarily help the rosacea but I am hoping for a general improvement)

Thanks in advance

I going to bump this as I would like to know too! I would say though, that I think 5 days is too soon to see any real results. I don't have rosacea, but I think weeks rather than days should give you a clearer indication if something is suitable. Maybe someone else can share any products that have worked for them?

It takes at least a month before you have completed full cell turn over. Then you will be able to judge.

Hmmm .. why do they only give you about 2 weeks worth then???

Think I might try something else. Only a week and a half in, almost finished the small sizes (was going to call them testers but as they cost me nearly £40 ...) and my skin is not as amazing as I had hoped ...

Off to read more threads for other suggestions. I remember Neutrogena being mentioned on threads when people asked what they could use instead of Dermologica but not sure if it would suit my rosacea. Anyone?

Like Krum said, about a month, unless you have an adverse reaction.

This is good to know. I have tried everything from Burt?s Bees but way too oily. I?ve tried every product too at Whole Foods.

I do the at home facial with the Riiviva Microdermabrasion tool for my acne scarring and it?s terrific. It?s here at www.riiviva.com.

Do you have any recommendations of what would work to moisturize without all the oily residue that happens when I use oils? Thanks!

I'm afraid I haven't got any recommendations - sorry - but I think in general any new skin care regime will take at least 4 weeks to show results. In fact, I'd allow six and certainly wouldn't expect to notice a difference in a week or two.

The only exception is the few times I've used something I've been allergic to and then skin has calmed down quickly once I stopped using the product.

(And obviously I'd expect medically prescribed treatments for an urgent, acute skin problem to show improvement pretty fast).
