so if I think I know what my colours are, is there any point to doing a House of Colour session?

After reading about 'getting your colours done' on S&B (having never heard of it before) I had a look into it. Found out that I have a local HoC lady, and got all excited about booking a session. Looking into it a bit more though, the sessions last a long time, and I'm still breastfeeding my baby, so can't be separated from him for that long, and didn't think it was fair on the other people attending a session that I bring him along with me (local HoC doesn't do individual sessions (well, she does, but they're really expensive, so not an option).

I was getting disappointed thinking that if I wanted to do the session, I'd have to wait until I had stopped bf, so instead, I've got a Colour Me Beautiful book out of the library, and have had a look at some colour websites (www.prettyyourworld.com) mentioned on here before, and think I've worked out my colours. I have dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and pale skin, so I think I'm a deep winter/deep and cool (depending on the system used). If I already know that, is there any point to wanting to do a HoC colour analysis session at a later time? It's a lot of money if they're only going to tell me that I suit rich, strong colours (which thinking about favourite items in my wardrobe makes sense), or will they tell me more?

They will tell you which colours/tones/shades suit you, which are your "wow" colours (i.e that you can wear top to toe) and the percentages that you can wear each colour.

For example ice colours are winter colours but I can't wear most of these except for ice blue and ice pink and then only a certain percentage. There are also some colours that I can only wear below waist.

They will also provide advice on make up and hair colours.

Its only worth it if its worth it to you. If money (or time) is tight don't do it. If you are really interested in learning more do it.

I think the people who are into it really enjoy it and it is worthwhile for them. The rest of the world tends to ignore their colours and they are fine -- look at any Hollywood red carpet and the same few colors dominate and over all the stars still look fabllous (although they might look a fraction more fabulous in their "wow" colours.

OP, if your colors are self-evident to you, you don't need a consultation. It's useful for people who are unsure, feel that colors in general are overwhelming, feel stuck in a rut.

I've looked at a lot of Cate Blanchett's pictures. I think her stylist uses my color wheel... Wink
