Adult acne? Whats worked for you?

Just wondering if we could share acne treatments? What worked for you?

I visited a nutritionist who recommend I have various hormone balancing things - Eskimo Skin care (fish oils with vit E) and a general woman's multi vitamin. He also recommended I stay away from yeast, citrus and sugar.

On top of this I've also tried to eat more almonds, avercardos, water and have very little coffee or alcohol. I've swapped goats products with cows products also. Also take evening primrose oil, B vitamins and vitamin C.

Yes I still get the odd rare spot but I am so amazed that after years of adult acne, I have quite clear skin now. U'm not sure exactly which of the above helped with the acne so would be interested to know you thoughts.

I used to take Dianette years ago and it did kind of work - not amazing results but ok. I put on a lot of weight with the pill though and I think it made me depressed so I came off it.
I also took Roaccutane which did really help. However, I wish I hadn't taken it as I suffered from hair loss and I only recently realised the two things were linked. I also suffer from depression and now know that Roaccutane can trigger/exacerbate depression. I really wish someone had talked through all the side effects with me.
My skin was great for years but just in the last year has been flaring up again. Particularly on my jawline and neck. I can't work out why or what's changed. I've had my hormone levels checked and GP says they're ok.

I think the thing that's made the most difference to me is getting my skincare right. I used to use the harshest, most stripping cleansers I could find (all those salicylic acid type things) and then loads of foundation. I now use natural balm type cleansers (Liz Earle, Boots Botanics etc) with a hot cloth, followed by face oil or really natural moisturisers from health food shop. I've been using Lily Lolo mineral make up for years and I do think it's improved the condition of my skin. Whenever I try other foundations, even expensive ones, they cause painful cystic spots.

Lush skincare has changed my life. I suffered with acne form age 15 - 25 and nothing worked.
I visited a Lush shop and was recommended Coal Face cleansing soap and Imperialis moisturiser. My skin has never been so well behaved. I can't say enough good things about it. When I see people in the street with bad skin I want to tell them all about it.

It's a great pity more doctors don't tell people with acne about this drug. It save my beautiful daughter's face. She too had to have two treatments when she was 15 but she is 24 now and they have never returned. Her skin is flawless.
